The Estcourt Arms — Restaurant in Watford

A poor Pub with lousy service. I must mention in the interest of fairness I came here during the covid pandemic, so service may have changed.

Unlike most pubs there is no app to order so you must wait at your table for service. This wouldn't be a problem, however 35 minutes to get service on a weekday night is not acceptable. I went in multiple times to get an barmaids attention, yet she forgot twice. When she finally did remember (my fourth time trying ) she took an additional 10 minutes to finally get my drink.

Now this is no fault, other than the forgetfulness of the bar maid but one person at the bar probably isn't enough to maintain a pub of this size...

Clean and compliant with the safety measures. The food was ok. The only thing I didn't like is that they were not offering the Eat Out Help Out promo campaign as per T&C's as they didn't apply the discount to the soft drinks we ordered (despite flagging that T&C's include those drinks)

The first bar area you enter is quite small but there’s a number of different areas throughout the pub. The real selling point here is the staff who are so friendly and make you feel truly welcome. Although it’s popular with regulars even on a first visit you don’t feel out of place. Nice enough range of drinks at reasonable prices mean I’d certainly visit again...
