Amira’s Kitchen — Restaurant in Wealden

My partner and I went to Amira's Kitchen for dinner.

When we arrived we were greeted by lots of friendly members of staff and shown to our table. We were offered drinks and these were brought over to us really quickly.

We ordered a murgh zafrani, a chicken tikka masala and a coconut chilli chicken.

The chicken tikka masala was a gorgeous smokey orange colour. The sauce was thick and flavourful and the chicken was soft and melted in your mouth. You could tell it was marinated and tasted flame grilled.

The murgh zafrani was my favourite. It was topped with cheese. The chicken had been marinated in cheese also and has the most amazing flavour! I've never tasted anything like it. Its really a secret gem.

The coconut chilli chicken wasn't too spicy and was very creamy and rich. Again it was very nice.

The pilau rice came topped with fried onions which was a nice garnish.

The naan bread was stunning. Fat, puffy and great for dunking.

The staff were really attentive the entire meal, but you didn't feel like you were being watched. They were so friendly too and seemed really happy when we ate all of our meal and didn't leave anything. Our waiter smiled and went, 'clean plates!' which made me smile too because the food really was delicious.

This was my first time trying Amira's Kitchen and I've already ordered a takeaway from them a few nights after.

One of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten in - and I have eaten in many. The choice and quality of the food is superb and the portion sizes are good. The service was excellent, with exactly the right balance of attentiveness and discretion, and the staff are polite and friendly. We went the week that the Coronavirus lockdown lifted to allow restaurants to open and their safety precautions were very thorough, with automatic hand sanitisers, clear Perspex partitions between the tables and all staff wearing masks. Visited here when it first opened, and was not that impressed with the service. But like all business they evolve, so we went back to give it another try. We did not book and did a walk in. Greeted with a smile, good start. They had a table so we were asked if we would like to order drinks at the bar while the table was made ready, after about 10mins we were taken to the table.
