I have been to this place countless times and have always had a good experience however, I went this week to meet a friend with our 2 7month old babies. Most of the staff are always friendly apart from the man that owns it. Iāve noticed on a few occasions that he seems incredibly hostile and frosty.
After being in there for about 1.5 hours (purchased 2 drinks each) he made it very clear that he didnāt want us to be there. He asked my friend to move her push chair outside into the porch even though it was cold wet and windy. We would understand if the place was busy but there were only about 4 other tables occupied. He then went on to say we were blocking the doors and tables. Which we were not at all. He then moaned about us to another member of staff (wife?) although he didnāt know, that was actually in earshot and we even saw his wife look over and say āshhā to him as she was obviously aware that we could see. This made us feel extremely uncomfortable. As young mums taking new babies out, it is often quite an anxious experience and this just made our experience horrible. Unfortunately both of us said we wonāt be coming back here. In our opinion this particular man does not seem to make the place feel āchild friendlyā at all which is a massive shame because everyone else in there does. A lovely place with lovely coffee, food and staff but unfortunately completely let down by...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf possible I would not even put a star. I came in just for a hot drink. I have never written a negative review before but am feeling the need to. I always enjoy supporting local businesses but for the first time I left to go to the Costa next door. Within minutes of me sitting there the gentleman told me I could not be on my laptop for longer than half an hour, which I accepted. But just after 20 mins of me sitting on my seat a lady asked me when I would leave, even though I had not even finished my tea and there were people who had been there longer. Would not recommend to go. The picture house down the road is a local coffee shop that is way better.
To reply to the response made by the cafe, a customer is a customer and I would agree if I was there for a long time, but I was only there for a small while and what I am doing while enjoying my cup of tea (which I did not get to do as I had to gulp it as I was being forced off the table) is none of the cafes business. I went to the cafe to run some quick errands and enjoy the buzz of a cafe which is fair enough to do, as a customer I should not feel I am not wanted in somewhere where I have paid, the second I sit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSadly the reaction to our response to the question, āWas everything okay? Was extremely rude. My friend ordered a tea and was asked if she would like milk or lemon with it. It was a lemon and ginger infusion and she chose lemon. None appeared with the tea so she went to ask for some and was given two minuscule half slices. The tea itself was flavourless and odourless. We politely fed back that the lemon had not appeared even though offered and the tea seemed to have no taste. The first response was we should have ordered from him. The second response was an impatient showing us the menu with the name of the tea. My friends left and I went to the toilet. Whilst waiting for the toilet I heard the owner complaining to another member of staff about my friendās dissatisfaction. The other member was heard to agree that the customers were difficult. Goodness. We will never darken their doors again. As others have pointed out, thereās some good places to eat and drink in Uckfield. Go to Hartfields or the...
