Trust me a one star is being over generous! After a horrible experience one afternoon I decided to give this establishment another chance! I was left utterly appalled with the entire experience yet again!! On my birthday I expected a lovely meal out with my friend to a place we frequently ( 3 times a month ) visit, spending £50-£60 minimum! Over an hour waiting for steak ( on stake night ) for it to arrive freezing cold was just the icing on the cake! To be told the manager wasn’t present but can offer another drink, and couldn’t have the meal removed from the bill with utterly gob smacking! No one should be treated like this not only on their birthday, but especially as a regular customer that’s on first name basis’s with staff!! its just unacceptable!! I was hungry tired and just appalled that a place I once loved could be so callas and display such disregard to a devoted and loyal customer! After being forcibly instructed to write down my details, magically my freezing cold birthday meal had been removed from the bill! Thought it couldn’t be removed with out the manager present? So reluctantly I paid £50 for my friends meal! Dripping in destain we left! Little tip, get a chef in that knows how to cook stakes! ( honestly having a stake night is just laughable!!) Brush up on customer service! Feed your paying customers and make sure you keep on top of timings! Don’t understand why my details were taken seen as I haven’t received a word!! I vow not to return! A recently reopened hotel and with bar and restaurant open to non residents. A superb renovation of an old dilapidated building. The décor and facilities inside are excellent, the staff are very friendly, they appear to enjoy working here which comes across as great service with a smile and a welcoming atmosphere. My family and friends have been here for a few meals already, Sunday Roast and all the trimmings for £14 was excellent value for an excellent meal. The menu is not extensive at the moment as they are finding there feet but it is great food and reasonable prices, Steaks a bit expensive but the rest is fair prices, not dissimilar to a pub. The drinks are good value and four of us went there last night just for a drink and chat, again great service, waiters/bar staff swinging along to the song 'Happy' whilst serving us, really laid back, inviting and welcoming bunch of guys last night. Again the choice of beers, whilst good value (£4.50 for a pint of Coors) is limited but we all found something to drink and the wine list and cocktails are reasonable. The place and staff made for a very nice evening get together. Lots of specials on at the moment and we got 10% of the bar bill, which added to the value. Somewhere I will use often, think it could become my local. Dropped a star of for now just because the food menu could improve and I know the manager, Bruno, is actively making improvements...

Extremely confused about this new restaurant. I booked for two people one lunchtime. Upon arriving, by car, from London, I entered the car park. I tried the old entrance where access to the restaurant used to be but the doors were firmly closed. I tried other doors, as I made my way clockwise around the building. NO SIGNS AT ALL POINTING TO ENTRANCE, unless you were on the road to St Albans. I walked up a ramp into an empty space, then stepped into a large empty room (except for chairs and tables). The feeling / atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming and not a person in sight. I could not even see the restaurant from the main entrance and there were no 'This way' signs and no-one to welcome me and my father and to point us in the right direction / take us to a table. The place didn't even feel 'Open for Business.' The 'layout' for this new place is diabolical. Who wants to be greeted by a large empty room, no people, no directions. Needless to say, we turned around and left but only after we had found the point of exit and requested the bar be lifted up to let us leave!!!!! Obviously, can't comment on food or service.
