At first it looks like a nice pub, and you can use the Wetherspoon app to order your food from the table. It is reasonably priced, and the food is what you would expect for the price. However the state of cleanliness is really not good. The tables are dirty, and seem to get cleaned only when you ask for it (that is if you can get the attention of a member of staff, as they go past). The idea of using the app is great, but only when it's properly joined up with the service. A couple of weeks ago, after waiting 1/2 hour for the food, I asked one of the waiters, who told us we had given the wrong table number when ordering. When I showed him our receipt with the correct table number, he said "let me go and check", and we never saw him again. So we ended up having food served to us after it had been under a hot lamp for a considerable amount of time. Last Friday, when our food finally arrived, I asked about our drinks, and our waitress said "That's up to the bar staff!". Fair enough she came back with our drinks a few minutes later (thank you!), but again it shows how the level of service is really not very good. So dear Wetherspoon, would you please stop wasting time campaigning for Brexit, and rather ensure your customer can get decent service...
Read moreWe had work drinks last week in Harpsfield Hall. I ordered a bottle of Prosecco via the app and clearly indicated my table number on the order. After waiting for it to arrive for about 25 min, I walked to the bar to ask when it was likely to arrive. It appeared that my bottle of Prosecco was delivered to another table (furthest away from me) some time ago and my not very honest colleagues were drinking it. The staff behind the bar wasn't particularly helpful. They just said that it was delivered and couldn't understand what the issue was. Fetching the bottle and confronting my colleagues in the nicest possible made me feel uncomfortable especially as I am a new member in my team. I had to ask for an empty glass so that I could have a drink. The bar staff was puzzled with my request. I have no idea why as the other glass was being used by someone else. That was also a bit humiliating. I wish I could have just not worried about that bottle and just got a new one. But as a part-time working mum, my 'going out' budget is quite limited, so I simply couldn't afford to do that. This incident was not handled properly by the pub and I had a rubbish evening...
Read moreThis is the first time I have to complain about this Wetherspoons! On a family visit celebrating our son in laws birthday, we encountered a few problems! Usually, when using their app, service is good and quick. Not this time. We had to wait for ages for our drinks and food to arrive, and they wasn't that busy. The table we were sitting at had freezing cold air blowing down on us. We asked for the air conditioning to be turned down but was told that they couldn't do that! As soon as a table large enough became available, we all moved to it. After we all ate our food, approximately 8:30pm we were approached by a security guy, who asked our three grandchildren and my granddaughters boyfriend for ID. All apart from our granddaughter, who didn't have any, willingly produced ID. Our granddaughter who is 16, was told she had to vacate the premises by 9:00pm! Our eldest grandson 20, was told to remove, or turn his baseball cap around!!! We all felt like, 'we've got your money, now leave! If these are their rules, why didn't this security guy carry out his procedures earlier! We were in Wetherspoons for approximately two hours before he...
