Super disappointed with the service here. Went to celebrate my friend’s 30th birthday, and not only were multiple orders incorrect despite pre-ordering weeks in advance, when the waiter told us we could “just eat it” when they produced, yet again, the wrong dish/superfluous espresso martini we were then grilled about it at the end of the meal during payment! “Is this true Darren?” was flung at the server in question in front of our entire party when we plead innocence about the surplus duck confit. Darren proceeded to insist that he hadn’t realised the orders were wrong, to our incredulity. Not only am I indignant that we were made to feel guilty and in the wrong over their kitchen’s mistakes, I am cross at the unprofessional manner in which it was handled. I’ve worked in hospitality for 10 years (25% of our party has) and...

A friend and I decided to meet at Taylors for lunch today and what a good decision that was!

The restaurant changed ownership recently and it has improved considerably since then. In fact it's now my first choice for morning coffee or lunch in Tavistock.

We both had the sourdough sandwiches and they were delicious and beautifully presented. I decided on the smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich and my friend had the ham, mustard, gherkin and tomato sandwich.

If you're looking for a nice atmosphere in which to have breakfast, morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner you really can't beat Taylors. The staff are friendly, the seating is comfortable and food is excellent! Thanks to all concerned.

Give it a try and I'm sure you won't be...

Waitress team friendly and polite. Some of the kitchen team need to remember that they work in an open kitchen and that customers can see them and (most apparent for this visit) that they can also hear them. Calamari starter was lovely and they have made it their own. Rib-eye steak lacked wow factor on first look and was backed up but being over cooked- medium well but was ordered medium rare 😔 Slaw was tasty but mushroom rubbery. Dessert was lovely and they did their best the make it a slightly bigger portion as we were sharing and to apologise for what was overheard in the kitchen. Would love to come back if the place and staff take a more professional...

Found Taylors by chance today and decided to have the Sunday roast. It's 2 courses so I had the soup of the day and the beef roast. The soup was winter vegetables, served with bread. Both were a bit bland, the soup improved after adding a generous amount of salt. The roast itself was abundant in portions as you can see in the pictures, although on the short end with the gravy, I did ask for more and was charged an extra £1. The food was tasty. It took some effort to cut the meat but that's because the table knife, would have been easier with a steak knife. Overall a good experience and the staff was friendly.

Great restaurant with lovely staff. Comfortable surroundings with a choice of seating styles, menu is not massive but is varied enough for our choices, the food was great, well presented and very flavoursome. Food was reasonably priced, in fact very well priced for the quality of the food! Good choice of drinks, no ale on tap but bottles were available. Cocktails are also available, they were very well presented and delicious. We were so impressed we booked again whilst there. I would advise to book at weekends, if you have a dog book a table downstairs and your best friend will be welcome!
