Excellent food and wine, lovely atmosphere, friendly, welcoming staff. I was late and no-one made me feel bad, they couldn't have been nicer. We were in a large party and some people felt there was too long a wait between courses, but I was perfectly happy to have a leisurely meal. Worth the detour from the A30 for the fab food and friendly service. We originally came to Chagford to swim in the river at Fingle Bridge years ago. We still go back (on the way to/from Cornwall) for lunch at the Old Forge even if terrible weather prevents us swimming like today.
