Route 66 Haverhill — Restaurant in West Suffolk

I went there for lunch with my wife a few days ago. We both had a starter dish, and a burger (+chips) for main. Starters were delicious. Then the burger arrived and it was very tasty....until I found a fly in my burger.....and then another one....and then another one.....and then my wife found one in hers and then we stopped looking for more. I complaint to the waiter (who I think he was also the manager) who apologized and offered to cook 2 fresh burgers for us. I politely declined his offer, but I did mention that I was not willing to pay for the burgers. When the bill arrived he charged the starters and drinks (which it was ok) but then he also charged the chips (ordered separately; burger does not come with chips) which were served in the same plate as the burger...

We first visited Route 66 after a trip to the cinema with our 3 children and all enjoyed it so much, with a mass family invasion taking place the following weekend, booked for Saturday evening for 12 of us. We weren't disappointed on our second visit and there was something on the menu for each one of our mixed family group. Our youngest daughter has a serious egg allergy and they took great care to let us know what was fine for her, and made sure not to cross 'contaminate' the food whole cooking just to be absolutely safe. Two visits now and we will be going again soon, as it is great food at a great price. We don't particularly like franchise burger places (McDonalds for eg) but this is a different league. Top tip: The hand-made American style burgers...

Ordered a vegetarian burger and it was very poor quality

There's way too much lettuce so it loses structure, there's 4 slices of tomato which makes the bun go soggy quickly and too much mustard which makes it hard to handle, adds to the sogginess of the bun and also takes over the flavour of the burger.

It's not a pleasant eating experience when the burger is sliding it's way out of the burger taking everything else with it when you attempt to take a bite in to it and you end u with a mess.

Chips are very very good though, would happily eat them again, which gives an extra star.

Will try again in future to see if there's any improvements or try there hotdog instead but won't be trying the burger for the...
