Sumo Sushi Restaurant — Restaurant in West Suffolk

I had the worst customer service with a delivery, and this is not the first time with the same employee “X” if that is even his real name. The individual firstly records orders and phone numbers incorrectly over the phone, so that the call was never placed when the delivery man was enroute. An hour later when I called for an update, the individual has an attitude and proceeds to tell me the driver will be enroute again. I go outside and wait a good 20 minutes and call yet again. He claims he’s spoken to the driver and he’s 2 minutes away. I wait another 15 and call again. Rather than apologise and explain what is this major delay, he is rude and hangs up on me when I ask for the manager. Needless to say, this is the LAST time I will ever give Sumo my business. I have lived in the local area for almost 3 years, a big fan and regular customer of Sumo all this time, and never have I received such poor customer service. This individuals behaviour and incompetence recording orders and numbers is unacceptable and I now refuse to give this restaurant my business. Hire better customer...

Food wasn't to bad although got a bad stomach directly after eating here. Looks a little dirty inside. Also Slightly over priced. I Came in here to help local businesses get back to normal after lockdown using the government eat out scheme. I can't actually believe businesses are trying to pull scams using this. Adding on vat after the discount has been applied even though prices on the menu include vat and the discount is the total price inclusive of vat. This was quickly reversed when pointing out this fact but how many other unsuspecting customers have they pulled this trick on. Not only ripping off the customer but the government as well. The response to my comment below also makes me laugh. I didn't mention service charge at all. They tried to add vat on top of the price which is clearly a scam. The food was alright, not outstandingly good for a Japanese restaurant. I have tried a lot better one in Suffolk in a better setting and cheaper price point. It is a takeaway add-on type restaurant which I did not expect to be too expensive. But when we got the bill, everyone at the table was surprised by 30% more than what is shown on the menu. We then noticed a 'polite notice' on the wall saying 20% VAT not included and 10% service charge not included. We are fine with 10% service charge but it is against the law that not showing the actual paid price of the food anywhere in a restaurant, nothing on the iPad menu or the menu at the entrance. We all felt utterly fooled after the dinner, especially on a Saturday day out. We have never seen anything like this before in the UK living 10+ years here. Ruined the day. I will start asking a restaurant about VAT now....
