Although the curry garden website says OPEN 7-DAYS Monday to Sunday 12:00pm – 2:00pm & 5:30pm – 11:30pm this is not true. I was disappointed to come from a very far distance to know they don't serve lunch.
I didn't give up on this restaurant, returned back for dinner to try Veg. Thaali and Chicken Briyani.
The reason I chose to eat in this restaurant was clean table, good rating online and food rating is 5 stars.
Vegetarian Thaali Overall: 2/5 I understand it is really difficult to cook Thaali and to sell in a country where not many people may order it.
Roti/Naan: 5/5
Aloo Gobi: 1/5 The potato in the Aloo Gobi wasn't fresh. It tasted a bit spoiled and it shows they served this from the previous day leftovers.
Rice: 2/5 I am not sure if anyone ever complained before for food color additives but I wasn't very pleased to see it. I returned it to them asking for a plain rice instead. I thought good restaurants already stopped using such food colours as people don't appreciate it anymore.
Channa masala: 3/5 The channa masala was good but very blunt and bit too dry.
Veg. Curry: 5/5 I really liked the vegetable curry. It had a mix of all vegetables including okra and cooked to perfection.
Curd / dahi was fresh so no complaints.
Chicken Briyani: 2/5 I was totally disappointed to see the chicken biryani take away I received had a lot of food colours. I have completely lost my appetite. Why on earth would you do such a thing? The biryani again was too dry and didn't have essential spices.
Dessert menu had no Indian desserts. I think people will come to Indian restaurant to try Indian food not just Western.
The bill should not be hand written with the total amount but rather be printed with the item description and the value...
Read moreMy family group celebrated my Birthday here on the strength of the fantastic reviews here on Google. Due to a unforeseen delay 2 of our group arrived later than expected and this proved to be no problem for the staff and management. Just after we placed our order for food a rather large crowd of around 20 people arrived and sat directly behind us, all of them extremely drunk and shouting obscenities at each other most of them seemed to be in their 50's and 60's which felt very peculiar and embarrassing. Having 3 Women within our group who were becoming increasingly upset by the behavior of the drunken crowd, I asked at the Bar if we could change tables and be placed in a quieter part of the restaurant just as our starters had arrived at our table. So I was certainly expecting to be told it was too late to be repositioned. To my surprise and gratitude the management understood that the situation was unbearable and promptly moved us to a much better area where we could eat our meal in relative peace. The manager certainly saved our day and changed a disaster into a successful experience for all. The food was absolutely perfect and nobody in our group had any complaints whatsoever. Upon paying the bill at the end of our visit, I was awarded a large bottle of Beer and a Birthday Card from the The Curry House which was a very nice gesture indeed. Obviously, I am going to highly recommend this wonderful establishment both for the food and excellent customer care to everyone, except large groups of drunken old men who only wish to disrupt the enjoyment of everyone else and embarrass themselves in...
Read moreI'm lucky with my work as I travel a lot and have had curry's all over the world including several cities in India. Aside from one particular place (the Bukhara at the ITC Maurya hotel in Dehli) most places do not come close to the Curry Garden. I had a top lamb madras there with good lamb cuts. No mutton, gristle or chewy bits to be found anywhere. The chicken dishes are clearly not just roasted chicken, cubed and then thrown in a sauce, it's all done very well in my opinion. We have tried various other Indian restaurants in and around Weston but they are not a scratch on this place. The idea of using dirty toilets adn then going back to eat will stop me from ever going to a restaurant again but the toilets here are spotless and for me that's another benchmark of a very well run restaurant. I often walk past in the afternoon around 2pm and you can smell the spices cooking so they're not just opening up after warming food up. Staff are all highly respectful gentleman, no small talk, just great service
Tip: In the colder months ask for a table away from the draught from the door sometimes caused by customers...
