Visited for a family meal tonight. The menu has changed (seems to have got smaller and more expensive, but what hasn't?). Food arrived, seemed quite nice, until the ladybird climbed out of my wife's meal. I waited at the bar for a couple of minutes with the plate in my hand whilst other customers were served, being quietly ignored whilst observing the little ladybird, exploring the plate still. Thankfully, the ladybird didn't find the food offensive, and stuck around for a while, seemingly oblivious to the length of time I was standing there with a plate, whilst being ignored by two staff. By this time I was getting concerned the ladybird would fly off to another meal and be swallowed up by another patron, however I was eventually asked 'Yes?' by the bar staff. So I told them there was a ladybird in my wife's food, just as the table service man appeared from the way of the kitchen. They in turn told the nice man of the ladybirds situation, to which he proclaimed his shock, and kindly removed the plate from my hands, and from there the ladybirds predicament is unknown to me. A minute later however, said nice man returned to my table, again professing his surprise at the ladybird, and joking it's a good job we didn't eat it. At this point I highlighted the salad clearly hadn't been washed. (Those of you who are still reading may have noticed I've not mentioned receiving an apology). He agreed, and offered to pass on my sage advice to the kitchen staff going forwards. At which point he removed our plates (i hadn't finished my food, but I suspected mentioning this fact, might have caused catastrophic levels of confusion after ladybird gate). So we left, no apology, no refund, no acknowledgement at all really that live animals in your food is a big no no. I've no idea what happened to poor ladybird, maybe it's search for the rest of its family continued!

Restaurant review. We came in summer to find a lovely rusty served tin dish with our chips served inside. Paper cover to hide the rust. I let this go as it was a busy summer day, but far from impressed with a rusty tray and food inside. Today, we have returned and have soggy chicken wings & soggy burgers. The so-called salt & pepper fries. When I mentioned the fries were not correct upon arrival, the person serving spotted a single black pepper on it. And said that's correct. Had enough of this place now. Don't bother wasting your money. Also, seen alot of rat/mice posion under the tables. Having heard rumours of mice/rats in kitchens. That's it for me. Get what you pay for, unfortunately Chicken wings didn't arrive until I went and mentioned this to the manager, along with the fries issue. I can see now why you have to pay first. Overall, this meal wasn't worthwhile paying for. Feel sick after the soggy chicken burger and a bite of 1 wing. Left it all on the table.

Family meal tonight, very disappointed and won’t be returning. Food was poor and 3 meals were clearly burned. I can’t believe they brought them out, it was embarrassing. Service was poor and everything felt like too much trouble for some of the staff (only one lady was helpful). Had to ask for cutlery twice but no staff to be seen with meals going cold on the table. 1 main meal missing. Part of other meal missing and they said they would bring it out later. Had to ask again as missing item was clearly never coming. The only positive thing I can say is the food came quickly. But to be honest, after spending >£80 and the amount of other good places around, I won’t be bothering with this place again. Update 05/10/21: It’s been almost a month since I contacted them at their request and I’ve heard nothing back. Clearly just a token response to make people think they care.

When we go there we were shown to the table we reserved and the member of staff told us we could order on the app or with a member of staff. For the next twenty minutes not one member of staff checked on us and they appeared to be ignoring us as they passed even when we called out to them. So eventually we managed to find how to order on the app. So we had been there for some time now and we still hadnt had a drink or had any help from the staff. We ordered 4 beef a chicken and a steak pie with a large sharing starter. The starter arrived and it looked like it had all been deep fried and dumped on a large plate. No napkins or cutlery just dropped on the table and walked away. After attempting to call the staff and being ignored for what seemed to be ages i had to actually stand in front of thr kitchen door to grab a waiter as they left. We were given four napkins for a party of six. We ate it but it was very greasy and over cooked not nice at all. Then the main meals arrived, four of the same meal but none looked the same. The meat was in poor taste and smelt and tasted like it had been left in a cupboard for a few weeks then heated slightly, some plates had a tiny amount of gravy and some had the plate swimming. Two meals didnt have all the veg and when the waitress was asked she said sorry we ran out, then ran into the kitchen and came out with three pieces of coli and dropped them on yhe closest plate. The mash was like a rubber ball and didnt resemble or taste like mash. None of us could eat more than a couple fork fulls and the two that did went yo the bathroom to puke. The bathrooms were in an aweful state, dirty and messy the smell was so overpowering you could smell it the closer you got. Obviously we asked to speak with someone to complain and they said we would be refunded for the meals, on later inspection we realised not all the meals were refunded. We decided to stay for a drink why we planned where to go to eat, i ordered two larger and two cider at the bar, i payed cash she read out the drinks ordered and was told they would bring the drinks over. The order was a drink short and i had to pay a further £2.99 for a drink id already paid for. All in all its the worst experience ive had for a long time and we definitely will never return to this establishment. Also when a customer is having a bad experience repeatedly asking them if they want to donate to charity is very annoying. spent on meal and first drinks £90 Only £30 refunded. Then paid £14+ for four drinks then a further £2.99 for a drink already paid for. Avoid this place like...

We ate at the restaurant last night and to say it was disappointing is an understatement. We ate there a while ago and vowed never to go back again but against our better judgement we went again. Starters arrived within reasonable time and were as expected but we had to chase our main meal which only arrived some 55 minutes after ordering it. I ordered a sizzler plate and contrary to its name did not sizzle. The microwaved soggy peppers and onions that the strange tasting chicken skewers were sat on was disappointing and tasteless. I ordered sides of sweet potato fries and coleslaw. The fries were fine but the coleslaw was served in a large dirty bowl which was presented with a napkin around it, possibly attempting to hide the filth of the bowl. The portion size of the coleslaw was massive which suggested I’d been served some decanted product direct from the fridge and not in the correct serving bowl it should have been in. To add to this my daughter order the chocolate brownie for dessert but 50% of it was inedible as it had obviously been over heated in a microwave. The women’s toilets were also in a state and smelled of strong urine. We will never dine in that place again which is such a shame as the premises creates great opportunity for it to be a good dining and drinking place but whilst the Hungry Horse chain own this site, it will continue to underperform. I complained to the Manager about the coleslaw and chocolate cake and he gave a refund however after checking my bank this morning, this has not appeared back in my account. £70 out of pocket and terribly...
