Whelan's Sports Bar — Restaurant in Wigan

Use Whelan's on a match day when it is extremely busy (as you would expect) and visited to watch the England v Wales World Cup game due to the WASC pizza offer.

Pros: Facilities are good and staff are helpful and friendly. Pizza and food is of great quality, the salt and pepper chicken is one of the best I've ever had. Highly recommend.

Cons: Some of the couches / tables are not best positioned for viewing the screens when sport is on. Staff did though let us move it round to watch the game. Drinks are quite expensive and we were told by bar staff that the '15% off all food and drink for WC group stage' offer that we had seen advertised on their Facebook page and part of the reason we went was not available - Just 15% off drinks. Didn't really think that was on when it was advertised as that.

Overall, good venue and will return on matchday. Might think twice on non matchdays as pricey compared to similar...

A great place to go for pre and post match drinks. Plenty of screens for other matches to be shown. I would recommend you check the socials for any other special offers that they have on as this is open on none...

Had a kids party at 5s football. Called during the week to book party food afterwards. Told to turn up without booking. Wasn't even open. Said online should of been. Dont answer calls....
