Just been for Sunday lunch after finding the pub last minute online for large booking of 9.

They were extremely accommodating and had a table for us at such late notice. On the phone we were kindly asked if we would like to pre book roast as they sell out quickly the later in the day it’ gets. This was extremely helpful as we would of been disappointed if we couldn’t get a roast!

I would love to express how clean the bar and pub was with such a lovely atmosphere.

Nothing was to big of an ask and all staff were super attentive and friendly. A big thank you to the gentlemen with darker hair and fairly tall (sorry we didn’t catch your name) he went out of his way to take one of our children to give a customers dog a biscuit which I felt was a lovely little touch seen as we were the only large noisy family in the pub.

We were never made to feel uncomfortable and I will return again just due to the level of customer service l.

Finally the ROAST! Easily one of the best roast I have quiet ever had . Everything was cooked perfectly.

Thank you all for a lovely end to a family Sunday very glad we found you by off chance online and we will now definitely add you to our list of...

We went out for an impromptu dinner - on a Monday evening - and the staff (front of house) were, as always, kind and friendly (and courteous).

Despair, for when they brought our food to our table, you could feel they were going to be quizzed on the portion sizes. I did contact them directly hoping they’d get back to me before I wrote a review - but they haven’t contacted me - almost a week later. They sent out an email asking my thoughts on our experience - including did I want to be contacted - to which I answered yes and to which I haven’t heard a thing.

Turns out the sharing platter (nacho’s) was hardly big enough for one and the pasta main was similarly of a diminutive proportion.

When I complained - a second plate was brought out and the staff did apologise profusely - and indicated the chef was “doing this lately” i.e. sending out smaller portions.

The cottage pie was the only item which was of a normal size - probably because it was pre-prepared!

What a joke, Fullers, I won’t be eating...

Having had an abhorrent experience at the Wykeham Arms recently, was reticent about visiting another Fullers pub in town.

Mitch and the team at the William Walker were simply outstanding - attentive, polite, accommodating and innovative. Short staffed and with a fryer busted in the kitchen limiting some menu options, the exceptional service was matched by the food.

Having tried a few venues in town without joy due to not having a booking, Mitch (the Assistant Manager who was also our server) ensured we were seated and served quickly, in spite of the pub being very busy.

The entire team were knowledgeable and extraordinarily friendly. Would not hesitate to commend these staff - what a brilliant team. The comparison between the Wykeham Arms and the William Walker was chalk and cheese; the team at the William Walker are absolute class....

Good cosy atmosphere but food was so disappointing. Ordered sandwiches with chips at £12 - huge potential to be good as fillings sounded interesting (a beer battered haddock, a cheese & caramelised onion, a pesto avocado olive sun dried tomato, BUT completely let down by the poor quality bread (bitty and not fresh)! Sun-dried tomato pesto sandwich was overly salty. Bread not fresh. Would expect a sourdough bread for this price which would have matched the more premium filling ingredients too... What a let down. The triple cooked chips were brilliant though, crispy well made. Service is good. Such a pity.

Another superb pub within the Fuller's stable. Very friendly staff and management who are happy to discuss the history of this old venue. My only complaint was that their HSB wasn't anywhere good enough...and in fact was very close to end of life, but that only made the pint lifeless, but not bad enough to return or complain about. Wonderful interior decor, bright and airy feel with plenty of open windows and doors...a much needed bonus in the current UK heatwave. Free WiFi but parking can be problematic (a common and recurring theme throughout Winchester city). Certainly worth a visit.
