We've visited regularly for the last 5 years - finding the restaurant by accident on a trip to the city. At the time, we thought it was brilliant. Great pizza and a really nice selection of cider (a novelty for me as I normally choose beer instead). We loved our first visit and the vast majority of subsequent visits.

In the 5 years since, we have visited at least 2-3 times a year and recommended The Stable to dozens of people.

Our most recent visit, on the early May bank holiday this year, was a disappointment. The cider was still delicious, as was the garlic bread and cajun tater tots we shared as a starter - hence the 3 stars. But the quality pizza had gone down hill somewhat - a slow and steady decline that we've noticed in our last couple of visits; until now the pizza had still been decent, if not what it once was.

My wife and I both ordered the pepperoni. The toppings, whilst generous, were placed so as to leave a really rather large crust. In addition, the slightly too large a quantity of mozzarella had on odd, mildly unpleasant flavour to it, and the pepperoni was also strange .

The Stable has been one of my favourite places to grab some casual food, so I really hope that this downturn in pizza quality is temporary. We will, however, still be visiting to grab a few ciders and snacks whenever we...

We love visiting The Stable in Winchester; it's great for adults and kids.

Although there is limited parking outside, we've always been able to find parking somewhere in Winchester. This includes disabled parking. For starters, the kids have always enjoyed having garlic or cheesy garlic bread. As a family, we want different toppings on our pizza; the kids like having the 'Proper Margherita' or the 'The Meat is On'. The last time we went there, my wife and I tried 'The Meat is On' - delicious.

There are loads of drinks on our kids usually go for one of the Spritz drinks; if I'm not driving, I'll have a Neck Oil (which I love).

They have an excellent selection of desserts on the menu. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with their Biscoff Cheesecake. I'll eat that every day of the week, thank you very much.

I do have fond memories of the building The Stable is located in; many moons ago, it used to be a bar called Moloko's. That was the place to be on Friday or Saturday night. They used to service a mean Refresher Vodka. It's nice to pop back to reminisce.

I reviewed the Stable Winchester not that long ago, but I'll give you my opinion on our latest visit. We came to Winchester from Wolverhampton to collect my daughter from University for Easter. We needed to book somewhere to eat on Good Friday evening and we can't help but gravitate towards the Stable. We were greeted by a very friendly and competent young lady who showed my wife and I to our table whilst we waited for our daughters to arrive. Drinks were ordered and brought promptly and our food order was taken when the drinks arrived. No long delay for the food either. We tucked in unashamedly to the feast before us which was, as always, spot on. Desserts and coffee were then offered and duly accepted, brought and devoured. I can't really fault you guys. Part of me feels we should try somewhere different to eat, but, what the hell, we get great service great food and drink and a really pleasant atmosphere. So, I'm afraid, whilst we keep coming to Winchester, you're going to have to keep feeding us. I'd only give you 10/10 because I can't give...

I've visited The Winchester Stable a few times over recent years, and can safely say that my most recent experience was fantastic. I sampled several of the pizzas and they were all equally delicious. The butternut squash and goats cheese salad was also fantastic, and I would highly recommend the 'tots' too! Make sure you leave some room for their homemade biscoff cheesecake - it is AMAZING! As always, the selection of Cider on offer at The Stable is vast, but you can’t go wrong with a Lilley’s Bee Sting. If you’re looking to share the same Cider it’s definitely worth getting a ‘Growler’ which is just over 3 pints for around £15 which is pretty reasonable. Overall, the service, food and ambience were all great, and I’d certainly recommend a visit if you’re looking for a good value bite to eat in a buzzy restaurant in Winchester.

Arrived, sat down and was not welcomed for 10 minutes maybe more. First interaction was asking us to move tables. No signs inside except a small qr code on one end of the table told us ordering needed to be done by phone. I was sat at the opposite end. So we just sat none the wiser. I asked to order then we were instructedto the QR. It would have been nice to be greeted and informed that we needed to order online when we arrived. There are "order by QR" signs on tables outside. Not inside though. Not overly busy on a late Sunday lunchtime. Good atmosphere. Food arrived in good time. Fortunately the pizza and beer was good. No idea why a restaurant is asking for a tip before being served any food, or being served at all.
