The most beautiful 2 day stay with my partner for our belated anniversary celebrations. From start to finish the Ro Hotel did not disappoint, from the scenery to the bar and restaurant aesthetics to the gorgeous breakfast and the loveliest staff. We stayed in a deluxe king room, which was just the right size for a 2 night break away. Our room had a safe, ironing board, coffee and tea facilities, large tv and to our surprise a fridge. The breakfast that was included was unbeatable, we really loved the self service side to it as it gave us a relaxed environment and being able to go up as many times as we wanted made sure that our stomachs where full for the day ahead. The hotel is in the perfect spot, being a 2-5 minute walk to the closest bars/pubs/restaurants. We where blessed with 2 days filled with 23 degree weather which allowed us to fully get our use out of the terrace area and the bind-fold door area near the bar which was perfect for playing an after teatime board game. Me and my partner would love to give a huge huge shout out to Johnathan, Robbie and the other gentleman with glasses whose name we didn’t get but looked like he was the manager. The service you provided us what unmatched, you felt like friends during the whole stay and you don’t find that in many places. One thing to note was the shower in room 118 needs de clogging as the water was near our ankles whilst showering and was flowing over to the bathroom floor. A minor issue that we know can be resolved for future guests, we mentioned this during check out to reception rather than during our stay because we where only there for 2 nights and it didn’t ruin our stay so we thought mentioning during check out was best. We would love to see in the future some sort of canopy by the terrace area outside and some heaters for the colder months, we absolutely loved the terrace and would love for people to be able to use it all year round, we think it would be the perfect addition. From the young Liverpool couple Callum and Amelia who Johnathan suggested base pizza to, we cannot wait to return in the near future to this gorgeous hotel.

Having only stayed at the Hydro Hotel in a business capacity previously this was the first time I had stayed socially with my family for 2 nights. It's obvious that the hotel has invested heavily on refurbishments over the last 6 months - new carpets, new furniture, fresh paint and very clean with free Wifi throughout. Our room was a lake view, fully refurbished family twin with a separate room for my little one, and it was one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. All carpets, fixtures, fittings and furniture were brand new and there were wall mounted flat screen TV's in each room. Great views of the lake from our window and as a coffee lover it was nice to have a Nespresso machine in there too! Please bear in mind when booking that not all rooms have undergone the same refurbishment level but I believe this is something they are currently working towards (basically you get what you pay for!). Breakfast is as you'd probably expect, plenty to choose from with fresh tea, coffee and fruit juices. We also had dinner here for the 2 nights and me and my partner both agreed it was some of the nicest food we've ever had - the lamb shoulder special was that good I had it on both nights - excellent food and well presented. They were also really accommodating with my daughter as she is very fussy with her food. Aside from the room and dining there is also a great little swimming pool which my daughter (who is learning to swim) loved to the point we couldn't get her out of there. There is also a steam room and jacuzzi which I could have stayed in all day! Service and staff wise I couldn't have asked for much more, the service was excellent and nothing is too much trouble. A big thank you to Stefan and his team. All in all, it was just what we needed for a short break away and we didn’t want to come home! Thank you!

Arrived Friday morning for a long bank holiday weekend. Hotel was easy to find and car parking initially had lots of spaces. On initial glance the hotel looked promising - unfortunately not. First of all the hotel needs a full refurb, paint peeling off walls, skirting boards chipped and the carpets have suspicious deep stains. Room was very spacious and the bathroom was clean however the doors have very large gaps which means you wont sleep, and will hear every noise. Some of the rooms are adjoining which we had, you had no privacy and we heard EVERYTHING that was happening in the other room and the rooms above- Ranging from sexual activities to toilet flushes. Meaning both night we had <4hours sleep that was undisturbed. We were absolutely exhausted by day 2 of the 3 day stay. BEWARE of room 137 it has a pipe leading from the bathroom to the bedroom that's boiling. It automatically increases the room temperature to an unbearable level. We had 2 fans going at one but nothing worked. Carparking eventually became a problem - space aren't allocated and its a free for all even though we were there for 2 out of the 3 nights we only left once as we struggled the first time we moved out car, to get back in. Breakfast 5/10. The new hotel manager Adam was very professional and accommodating. He tried to rectify the situation but the hotel was fully booked except for night 3 where we could have moved. But we were exhausted from little to no sleep and decided to leave a day early. We appreciated Adams hospitality and warmth at the hotel, unfortunately issues with the hotel seem to be out of his hands. Its seems to need a large cash injection for any feasible changes to be made. This is probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. Adam was a thoroughly decent and committed manager.

Sadly having to leave this review. We have just checked out of the hotel early as the staff were downright rude. We checked in , all fine told in a very blasé way where are room was located. No information regarding breakfast lifts etc anyway after struggling up two flights of stairs we found our room , oh and also the lift !!! Situated right next to our room ! ||We initially thought our room wasn’t ready as all of the previous guests waste / plates etc were still outside. Anyway gets to the room. Lovely. Lovely and clean , bathroom great etc. goes to turn on the tv. Not working. ||This is a bit of an issue for us as we don’t tend to go out much of an evening due to my health. Telephoned reception, young girl who was clearly having a conversation with her colleague and couldn’t be bothered dealing with me laughed and told me maintenance would be along to deal with it. ||Several hours passed. Still not repaired. I went down to reception , I was told sorry. Tv can’t be fixed problem with the server which was crazy as the internet in the room worked. Anyway. I asked to speak to a manager. ||Absolutely wonderful, I think he was a duty manager extremely helpful, apologetic and genuinely wanted to help. He arranged for an upgrade and explained that we could move rooms the following day. ||2nd day we booked to use the spa facilities whilst we waited for our room to be ready. ||This is an extra charge of £25 again all fine. My hubby went off to the gents charging I went to the ladies then waited for him in the pool area. After about 20 mins still no sign of my hubby I started to worry. Wrapped a towel around me ( still hadn’t been provided with robes or footwear ) anyway I was greeted at the top of the stairs by my very frustrated hubby , he’d been told to wait in the changing room whilst the duty manager possibly Hannah sorted out a robe for him. He’d gone up to reception at the same time I had , only to be fobbed off that a man was looking for us to provide us with the said robes . Completely untrue , the man then walked into the reception from the main hotel with the robes. A complete waste of 45 mins waiting around for bathrobes. Bearing in mind. You get a two hour window to use the facility. ||Again totally understand that these things happen. If the manager had said to my hubby just throw a tee shirt on and go use the pool. I’ll follow you down with the robe or just been more helpful it wouldn’t have been an issue. ||Sadly she didn’t. She just explained that she had been dealing with a club member. Obviously more important than a hotel guest. ||So completely frustrated yet again not with the hotel or facilities the staff. We headed back over to reception to ask if our room was ready. ||The receptionist who was on had clearly just spoken to the duty manager in the spa so knew that we were not best pleased was so defensive. We were told no the room wouldn’t be ready until normal check in at 3. it was our fault we’d had all the messing. It’s only a tv yup I get not such a big deal but you try being stuck in a hotel room for 3 nights bored out of your brains with no tv. Again it was her attitude. Rude patronising, she actually stuck her hand in my hubbys face and said she didn’t want to deal with him. Made him feel awful. He walked out. I stayed tried to calmly talk to her but sadly just found myself getting no where. Patronising, rude unhelpful anyway I then spoke to a lovely gentleman who didn’t work directly for the hotel. I’m guessing he was agency staff. So helpful. Took me to the room ( that was clearly ready the receptionist just couldn’t be bothered to check as check in time was 3 ! Even though we were actually guests , ) ||Again a beautiful room. What’s made this so sad is the hotel ok in a few places yes it’s tired but what it lacks in some places it made up for. We’d been given a beautiful room with a balcony a gorgeous view overlooking the lake but my hubby has been made to feel that uncomfortable we’ve sadly left early. ||Generally let down by younger members of the staff who clearly hadn’t been given any customer service training. ||I cannot fault the duty manager. The lovely girl who checked us out ( red hair ) & the lovely guy who I’m guessing was just agency staff. So helpful I actually feel awful leaving such a yuk review as upon check out we have been refunded for the nights stay that we’ve lost. ||It’s just to let the hotel know that sadly just a few members of staff really spoilt the whole experience. ||We spoke to another couple at breakfast this morning who made us feel better as they too hadn’t had the best experience with staff. ||So , can’t complain over the rooms the facilities the breakfast sadly just extremely rude staff especially the girl on reception yesterday. So gutted I didn’t grab her name. I didn’t think it right to put a description on here but I’m sure if you check your rotas you’ll know...

We stayed here for 3 nights Friday to Monday.||The hotel is located in a perfect position, close enough to Bowness town, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle. ||Yes, there is a fairly steep hill but it isn’t that long, however, if you aren’t very mobile you would find it hard going. ||There were available parking places even though it was the weekend. They do advertise the fact quite well that you have to pay for parking, currently £7.50 which is no hardship.||The entrance to the hotel and the bar area is modern and light. Our room was on the second floor and on the way to our room the decor showed some wear on the paintwork which others have commented about. But it wasn’t that bad and could just do with a lick of paint. The lift is an experience and bounces round a bit, so we mainly used the stairs. There are quite a few fire doors to open between corridors and stairs, something I’ve never really noticed in other hotels we have stayed in, but no doubt it’s regulations.||The room was a lake view double and we were very pleasantly surprised how large it was. The bed was big and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and had a nice big walk in shower, though I did miss a shaving mirror. The room has a safe and iron which we like a room to have. The wardrobe is open and there is a shelf to put your clothes. My wife would have liked a set of draws but it’s not a deal breaker. The window had a rounded top, and instead of curtains on the wall there was a made Velcro curtain you had to manually attach and detach on the arch bit of the window itself, and there was a pull up blind for the bottom half. You really needed to remove these else you won’t get the views. Again, it wasn’t a deal breaker, but you do have to step up into the window cilll to attach the arch curtain which wasn’t too bad.||Breakfast on the whole was very good. There were cereals, fresh fruit, pastries and a Buffett cooked breakfast, which was bang on. The sausages were very good and there was plenty out. There was a couple of things missing which you’d normally get it a 4 star, like muesli, proper prunes and hams and cheeses. But I certainly wouldn’t have let this put me off, just thought I’d mention it as people have commented that the breakfast was just ok. It was much better than just ok in my opinion.||The staff were all friendly, helpful and very hard working.||Compared to other hotels we have stayed in I would say we got value for money and we would...

Unfortunately this stay was a disappointing one. We arrived early as we wanted to explore Bowness so decided to park in the car park prior to check in. I spoke to the receptionist who said check in was 15:00 and I couldn’t check in early (absolutely fine) . We had a look around the hotel and as we passed through reception a gentleman was asking the same question as we did 10 mins prior (14:00) and was promptly allowed to check in. We approached the receptionist who decided that we could do the same at that point. We went to our room that had a lovely view across the lake, sizeable and comfortable bed. The disappointment happened when I went into the bathroom. It was cramped but that’s not the issue, it was filthy. Dirty toilet and the area around the seat had not been cleaned for some time. The shower was also unclean with dirt around the plughole and the door didn’t shut correctly. The dirt on the radiator had clearly been there for weeks / months. Although we could open windows they didn’t stay open so had to use a toilet roll to prop open. I raised these issues with the manager as soon as I could, and an upgrade was mentioned but also the fact they had none available! . He did seem genuinely apologetic however when I returned to my room it was still unclean, no attempt had been made to clean it. The following day although I got fresh towels etc the bathroom was still in the same state of uncleanliness. I sent another email message only to get a similar reply so all I can assume is that words are meaningless.||I did receive a refund for parking which is £7.50 a day. I don’t think that as a resident of the hotel I should be paying that in the first place.||I would say that the hotel is in a lovely location, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast was 1st class. The downsides are it is not a premium hotel, it was tired and dirty throughout. Reception staff seem disinterested in if you are enjoying your stay, we weren’t advised about breakfast times, restaurants or bar areas on arrival, or about any facilities. When we checked out we weren’t even asked if we enjoyed our stay as the two ladies on reception were talking’s about their weekend plans. It felt very much like once they have your money they don’t care if you enjoy your stay or not. This wasn’t what I was expecting, it was part of my wife’s 50th birthday celebrations which just adds to the...
