I picked up food from here this evening for takeaway. We had 1x halloumi kebab & 1 chicken kebab + chips and it was all amazing! The chicken was juicy and full of flavour and their bread is better than any bread in the area and came free. We used to use this restaurant often when we lived around here but moved away but we will definitely be back. Also the guy who served me on the front desk was really friendly and welcoming and definitely knew his stuff.

Excelent eating experience! We ordered Amara Special and fish of the day.... both of them great taste, well cooked. Regarding dessert it has sent us straight to Heaven. The mixture of turkish taste of baklava and the flavoured ice cream it was fantastic! Lovely, friendly staff made us feel like being home! Nice atmosphere! We strongly recommend Amara restaurant! Well done!!!

Delivery .Wrong item delivered, only to be told we ordered the wrong item. We ordered correctly picking from Veggie menu only to get meat. Also paid extra for fries and got rice. Not very good telephone customer service. The replacement then arrived two hours later. The rest of the food was great, but the girl on phone really needs to learn customer service.

Amara is poor all around.

We ordered delivery from Amara as we really enjoy Turkish food and eat it often, however I can assure you we wont be ordering from here again. Allow me to tell you why.

Shortly after our food arrived we noticed that Amara somehow forgot half of our order, not to worry, we’ll just call them and figure it out.

Upon calling the restaurant they agreed to send out the rest of our order. Except it never arrived* (see below). We called again, multiple times and either they forgot how to operate a telephone or were ignoring us… Eventually we managed to get through to someone but coincidentally or conveniently, or maybe both, everyone at Amara had forgotten how to speak English.

The little food that did arrive, seriously by the way it’s like Amara are living in WW2 Britain during the blitz rationing their food because the Germans are flying overhead. The portions were tiny, not to mention subpar. Hot and spicy chicken wings? More like room temperature and lightly salted. All the meat was extremely greasy, with exception to the adana which remarkably was drier than the Sahara Desert, the entire meal gave me the feeling I was eating reheated leftovers from the night before. The hot mezze was more of a hot mess, four tiny pathetic pieces of lukewarm halloumi which seem to have been heated on a radiator rather than a grill. God forbid the rest of our food did arrive, it’s probably for the best it didn’t. To be fair the bread would have been good, if they didn’t forget our hummus.

*EDIT: At the time of writing this review the remainder of the food arrived, an hour late…

All in all awful service would recommend avoiding at all costs as there are significantly better Turkish restaurants on the Wirral, which I wont mention by name because this review isn’t biased, just brutally honest.

Kind regards, Someone who enjoys Turkish food and doesn’t enjoy...

We ordered a takeaway delivery from Amara and it said delivery time would be 55 minutes. 1 hour 15 minutes later there was still no sign of it so we called the restaurant to see when we might expect it. The lady on the phone was abrupt but told us that the delivery driver was leaving with our food there and then. We live about 8 minutes drive from the restaurant. Two hours after we ordered and 45 minutes after she told us the food was on its way, we called again. The same lady answered and rudely told us that the food had indeed left when she told us it had. My husband said that we live less than 10 minute drive away and it had been 50 minutes so where was it? My husband said if he left when she said our food would be stone cold. She rudely told us that it was nothing to do with her and it wasn’t up to her to deal with it!! We waited a further 15 minutes before we called the restaurant to tell them not to bother bringing it because we no longer wanted it. At this point it was 2 hours and 15 minutes after we ordered! Another 10 minutes after this (so 2.5 hours after ordering) the food arrived (despite us cancelling it, so ignored our cancellation). The bag of food was soaking wet with soggy condensation and the man was angry we wouldn’t accept it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Who wants to wait over two hours for food? Who wants to pay £60 + for stone cold soggy food? Who wants to give their hard earned money to a restaurant that lies about delivery times to get you to order, then is rude and unhelpful and leave you waiting for hours indefinitely for food you don’t know is even coming? Will never order or...

Honest and genuine review:

We really wanted this to be a good experience of us supporting a local restaurant but unfortunately it was very disappointing.

Not due to the two young servers, who tried their best, or the brightly lit space, uncomfortable chairs, or even the food!

The problem was the owners/management who didn't make any attempt to connect with their restaurant customers and didn't have the skills or understanding to notice delays, empty glasses or lack or music. Instead they relyed on their young under-trained staff to manage the front of house experience of the customers. It didn't work.

After placing our order we waited 30 minutes for three (cold) starters, which were very tasty.

Then, a lengthy wait for our main courses and one didn't arrive, they'd forgotten it!

We had to leave the table to go and ask for more drinks at the bar.

Throughout the night the two young servers seemed pretty busy bringing food, taking plates and drinks to the 4 or 5 tables whilst the owners/management (4 of them) weren't present at all. Perhaps their primary focus is on the take away business which is fine, but why have a restaurant if you have no interest or experience in hospitality?

It's a real shame because with their current lack of vision this business might not last, despite...
