Visited with 6 others. Called left a message to book a table, no call back... Attended in person and booked the table.. no reason for the lack of call back! Same thing happened previously to us... Turned up 4.15.. tables we were meant to have had NOT been reserved... Another set of tables set up for us.. service was friendly until... As part of the food order had 2 mushroom ale pies. Disgusting. Rock hard pastry and solid mash on one and rock hard pastry on the second. I left most of mine. Onion rings and cheese garlic bread were lovely. The red headed waitress took our plates. I mentioned that the pies were terrible. She was more than a little dismissive and surly and requires some CS training.. offered in a slightly snotty way, free dessert or a drink, almost implying that was what I was after.. even though 80% of my inedible food was still on the plate!. I refused as I wasn't eating anything else there and had had enough cokes. She said 'i will speak to my manager'. I didn't se or hear from anyone thereafter. I was massively unimpressed. As an auditor of F&B clientele for many years this was poor at almost every customer touch point. No check back, either.. complacent table 'service' bordering on the lazy IMHO and a place to be avoided.++ Update..a response was received through Google to contact them at the Lighthouse ... no email address supplied, found one eventually.. sent 2 days ago no response..++ I won't be visiting here again.. IF you want to provide Professional service and quality food perhaps a visit to Toby at Arrowe Park, to see how it is...
Read moreA bit hit and miss this place. Been a couple of times last year. Seemed like a nice pub with a nice atmosphere, half decent pub grub. We've just been for Mothers Day and have to say it was disappointing. I had a joke of a time booking in the first place because the phone lines were down so I had to book through email which should be strait forward, but it wasn't due to the misleading information on the lighthouse website stating that a £5 booking fee is required for parties of 6 or more people. I was booking for 5 people but was then asked for a £25 deposit anyway. So i questioned this as its not what it says on the website which is where it all got to be a ball ache just trying to get an answer to my question. It turned out that anyone booking a table needs to pay a deposit, not what it says on the website which is wrong and misleading information. Then after getting there on the day and ordering the food I find out there's no roast dinners left which my mum was really looking forward to, and it was only 6.30pm. Plus they had no veg left other than peas which were pale and insipid looking and the amount was a joke too. My bro got about 10 peas instead of the broccoli he should have got with his meal. I got no veg with my rump steak and a measly size meal. For £15 I expect to be full but I went home hungry and I'm a size 8! I've got to say I will be going elsewhere next time as it was disappointing especially for mothers day. They should have been more organised and prepared. You'd have been stuck if you were a...
Read moreNOT family friendly! Usually one of my favourite places to go. Chose here for a little birthday gathering due to it usually being family friendly. My children were happily playing like children do along the top half of the raised area for dining. The pub was pretty much empty, much quieter than I ever remember. The top section was completely empty with no customers so I did not see a problem with the children having a little play and run. But then... The boss (new to the pub, has an accent, didn’t catch her name) abruptly came over and not even entering the top raised area shouted over ‘can your children sit at the table and not run about’ nothing subtle about it. They we doing no harm and not bothering anybody else. Just being kids excited to see each other as it’s a rare occasion all are together. I am one for being considerate and if there were customers near I would certainly be respectful of that, and my children would too. I’m disappointed as I have never had a problem like that in any dining area, never mind one that I have always enjoyed being at and classed as always family friendly. I thought it was a little harsh and could have been approached with a little more respect and consideration. The food was ‘OK’, waited about 20 minutes, that being that there were very minimal dining customers in along with us.Overall of the place, the manager was really nice and professional. Weren’t to impressed with what resembled a Chicago town pizza from the kids...
