Very welcoming place. Ambient lighting and subtle music playing makes it feel like something out of a sitcom. Food is good, I am writing this view a while after visiting as I have nothing to do right now, so I can't find any recent pictures among my hoard of a gallery. Any food with dairy (such as their hot chocolate or cheese toastie) is good, and I hope you will take my word for it, I am lactose intolerant but will endure some discomfort if it means I can taste the food they have to offer. It's a good job they have toilet's inside. (Not that I'd have ...an accident)I put Service 4 star just because I get confused sometimes as to whether or not I wait for my order to be placed on the corner of the counter or If I sit down then get called over, but that might just be my skill issues, either way It is not a big deal. Also 4 star service because some tables have a coffee cup or two leftover, but thats fine. Saw a review mentioning flies who also eat dead animals sitting on the cakes? I've never known flies with such big appetites, or does that just prove how good the food is, that they'd be so full up on 'dead animal' yet choose to have some cake from here? Seriously though, I've never saw flies sat on the cakes on display. Atmosphere is also a 5 as described near the start, I should've ordered my review better huh. The large bench secluded in the corner seems a good place for people wishing to do some work / study. The place is available on too good to go, so if you want to try food here on a budget, book a bag and you get multiple items for little cost, and limit food waste. Whole place is very flat and spacious, with wide doors, it's very accessible. Outdoor seating available for hotter days ( or if you want to drink coffee in pouring rain 🤔). Overall, I reccomend this place often. Staff are...
Read moreThe ambience in here is very nice with nice music and lighting. The place is kept very clean, the tables had all been wiped and were clear of any mess. There's a lot of seating and it's quite a spacious area. The toilets are easily accessible and there is free WiFi for up to two hours.
As for the food, me and my wife shared a honeycomb tiffin and both had iced drinks. The tiffin was great. The drinks are different from other coffee places iced drinks. They're less sweet and more creamy, blended with ice cream. I love this fact but it might be a surprise if you're used to the sugar in Costa and Starbucks frappes. They do offer flavour syrups which we didn't have in our drinks so that might add some sweetness for those with a sweet tooth. I've seen some other reviews mention the exposed cakes. I don't think the cakes are any more exposed than other coffee places and didn't see any issue with it. The only way they could really address that is to have the display case sealed on their side too.
The staff were friendly and helpful recommending drinks and also were amazing splitting our tiffin so me and wifey didn't have to fight over it haha. Overall a great first impression and we will be back again to try some different drinks.
Please forgive the half eaten tiffin in the photo! Someone (me) forgot to take a picture before...
Read moreI can't believe how many times I've walked past The Coffee House. I tend to visit the well-known chain coffee shops which I now know has been a big mistake.
The first thing I noticed was how spotlessly clean it was, inside and out. Secondly, the food on offer was really appealing. I don't tend to buy food in coffee shops as it tends to be overpriced and not all that tasty. I had a tuna panini (warmed) and the white chocolate shortbread was too tempting to pass up.
I ordered a tea, not a coffee which is always a risk as I do love a really good, strong tea (and I take skimmed milk to retain the strength of taste). I was pleasantly surprised when it came as loose leaf. I can honestly say, this was one of the most, if not the very most delicious tea I have ever tasted.
I asked one of the lovely staff (both the young girl and the young lad who I spoke to were really friendly and professional) who said that they also sell a variety of these loose leaf teas along with the pot/strainer. I said I would come back after payday and she advised me that they will help to talk me through it as I haven't made loose leaf tea before.
The coffee shop itself felt really unique, very chilled and there are a variety of table and chair set ups. The toilet was also very clean.
I'll be back when I can to...
