This was my first visit and it will probably be my last. We choose here as it was recommended by friends in the group who had been before. Our occasion was a small hen party of 5 very close friends so we choose to upgrade our bottomless brunch to include cocktails. On arrival the staff were helpful and explained hiw things work. Unfortunately I have a vodka allergy but they were happy to switch out the vodka for another spirit, that was were the customer service seemed to end. We ordered our first 'round' and were surprised that a porn star martini don't come with a prosecco chasers. We asked if we could have a glass of prosecco and were told it was only 1 drink per person, house rules. Fair enough. Food ordered we continued with our celebration. The food was pleasant but nothing to sing and dance about. We ordered another round of drinks but had to flag down the waitress for this. Main meal came and again pleasant but average, we then ordered another round and this time all ordered prosecco and they brought the bottle. I had a wine but asked for ice in it, I had to ask twice. I probably should say that our visit was a Sunday afternoon and there were only 2 other tables, of 2, in the restaurant. Not a busy time when all tables are full and covers are at a all time high. We ordered a carafe of orange juice to accompany our prosecco and were blown away that when the bill came we had been charged for it!!! Food finished we ordered a few more rounds before our bottomless brunch time was up, each time having to seek out the server. I'm well aware of the importance and relevance to bars not supposed to serve drunk people but a little more attentive behaviour would not have gone a miss. A very disappointing afternoon as the location and decor of the restaurant was...
Read moreThe service is terrible, after being served the wrong drink I was made to feel it was my fault.
They brought us water to the table too, it was only when I was half way through it, that I realised the glass was lined in a think layer of black mould at the bottom. They didn’t seem very surprised.
We tried for 30 minutes to get our bill and another 30 minutes for the card machine to pay the bill.
We tried everything we could to be polite and friendly to the staff, but felt uncomfortable at their attitude towards us.
The food was lovely, but the menu is confused at best. I understand the theory of the menu being elements from the Silk Road you will spend a long time trying to work out what on earth to have, luckily you will have the time to choose as the staff will have forgotten you exist.
I would recommend the food, but maybe have take away, oh and steer clear of their mouldy water.
Update: I rang as requested and was assured of a call back. It didn’t happen, so it is obviously not a place that cares about...
Read moreGood service although some of the dishes are very hit and miss. We ordered quite a few different dishes, including Pad Thai, Nasi Goreng, Beef Rendang, Persian Lamb, Turkish Meatballs, Mushroom Croquettes, Duck Bao, Nachos and Patatas Bravas.
The Pad Thai was inedible, and didn't taste good at all. It was extraordinarily sweet and oily, and seemed like it had been heated in a microwave. This was a very bad dish which didn't taste authentic in any way.
The Turkish Meatballs were decidedly average, as were the Patatas Bravas, Mushroom Croquettes, and Nachos. Nasi Goreng was fine although the requested chicken was left out of the order.
Persian Lamb and Beef Rendang were the best options but these had very small portion sizes.
The food was overall OK, and I wouldn't rush to return. I couldn't fault the service staff though who were friendly and polite. I think Silk Road would be better aiming to do fewer dishes well, rather than offering such a hit and...
