I used to really enjoy going in here, as there were some nice brunch options, but unfortunately this has recently changed with the menu become somewhat 'strict'.
Unfortunately, recently Wylde have added some small print to the menu stopping you from adding extras to the food unless they're the specific 'suggested' additions for the specific dish with no substitutions allowed either... This is a shame as the portions aren't huge and so if you were particularly hungry it was nice to be able to add an extra egg, or some halloumi to a dish.
I've never been to a café/restaurant that only allows you to add the generic extras to specific dishes, and it doesn't seem considerate to those who might need to make small adjustments (due to intolerances or allergies) as the only option is to remove what you can't eat and have a significantly smaller meal.
Previously, as is usual, you paid to add extras (e.g. £2 for some halloumi), which is entirely reasonable. I understand you can't add just anything to the plate as its only a small café and food needs ordering in, but having two or three 'add-on' options for all dishes rather than restricting these to the few specific dishes that they decide shouldn't be hard. It feels like being parented a little bit.
Also, it would be good to have the toast available for a bit longer, as that could be a nice add on if you're still a bit peckish but stops at 12pm.
Besides this, the staff are generally friendly and the decoration is lovely and warm. The coffee is good and competitively priced...
Read moreVisited due to a reccomendation. Sat down menus where on each table ready to browse. After looking at the menus and sitting there for 10 minutes we realised you had to go up to the counter to order? There was no indication apart from a small sign by the till asking people to "order at till". Personally in places like this I prefer table service or at least a clear indication telling you how to order. I opted for a Latte & Black Pudding Benedict was my choice for breakfast. I noticed there was no sugar on our table but all other tables had sugar jars? The Latte was great tasting but only warm and by the time my food had arrived the last bit of my latte was cold which was disappointing. The black pudding benedict was well presented, fresh and full of flavour. The poached egg was runny but the food was warm and not very hot and quickly went cold. There was no salt and pepper on the tables either? Unfortunately I can't give this place 5*. The prices where I suppose reasonable for Heswall. I may return in the future but I am unsure....... Onto the next...
Read morereally disappointing .. met with my family for breakfast 9am in the morning. The café was nice and quiet only two other tables taken, the tables are small for four people, especially if you are eating, i asked if we could push two tables together which the miserable waitress refused even though three men where sitting on the next table, which had two tables pushed together!!! i could see they were about to leave, so when the waitress brought the drinks i suggested we move there as we were all going to order breakfast. the waitress said no and then pulled the two tables apart, so there are rules for some but not for others !!!! we left and went to a lovely place just up the road The Otto Lounge where the staff where lovely and food delightful. such a shame new business dont know how to treat customers, we were not asking for much especially as the...
