A hidden gem of a place, and it actually pains me to give away the local secret to everyone! why? Well...
In the daytime it's a wonderful little cafe with a quality menu, and a cosy spot to relax, and watch the world go by. As with all Black Country folk, they'll make you feel welcome as soon as you step in the door. It also helps they have the best coffee in Bilston.
In the evening however, it turns into the finest small ale house, serving the finest, and I mean THE finest local ales. Always perfectly kept, always perfectly fresh, always perfectly poured. And once again you'll get the warm Black Country welcome. A proper place, full of proper people. The locals are absolutely sound too, sure, they'll give you a ribbing, but only so they can have a friendly chat with you and get you involved with there conversation. I adore this place. I have spent many an hour in there just listening to the cross talk and repartee of the regulars and enjoying the brews.
But other than the above, as a local guide, what makes this place utterly unique and a hidden gem you ask?

Read moreEstelle and Pete are some of the loveliest people you'll ever meet. They are so passionate about what they do and as a result you're served some of the best beers along with excellent service. There is no other place like Cafe Metro in or around Bilston making it a perfect venue for almost every occasion e.g. pre football matches, The Robin2, Bilston Town Hall, birthdays, dates, work parties and nights out with friends. Real ales, keg, craft, Belgium beers, spirits, wine - they have it. Regular bands, quiz nights, vinyl nights and whiskey clubs are on offer. The venue is cosy and clean with plenty of seating and a pool room upstairs to enjoy. Prices here are more than fair and I'd rather spend money here more than anywhere else as it's an independent business. Both cash and card is accepted, cash preferably. Visit via the small side road that you enter/exit Bilston Metro station. Plenty of parking on the side streets and Bilston carparks. Easily accessible from Bilston train...
Read moreFirst time I've been here and I've got to say, they are the best place to drink in bilston. They had seacider on which is in my opinion one of the best flavoured ciders going! If cider isn't your thing, there is a good variety of larger or a very good selection of ales which I did have a good try of myself. If you are into stouts, Nightjar is available and is probably one the best stouts I've tasted, very close to Brennans. As for atmosphere, we visited early evening to late with no entertainment on, but wasn't needed, music was playing but still not loud enough you couldn't have a conversation. People in there seem very friendly, and owners are the most friendliest of people I've come across in the pub/bar sector. Really is a must visit. People go in as customers but leave feeling like friends. Thank you so much...
