I've visited the Summer House for both beers and food at various occasions and it does both brilliantly. Most recently, a visit with my wife at 5pm on a Thursday, we'd booked a table in advance as it does get busy. This proved to be well advised as on arrival, many of the tables were reserved. The food here is delicious, the service quick - no sooner had we ordered, our starter of poppadums had arrived, no sooner had we finished that the main was with us. Staff are polite and friendly, and will accommodate - for example I wanted to try the chicken tikka masala but I'm a fan of spice, on request they upped the heat of my meal which gave it the kick I enjoy. The Tikka Masala was sweet and filling; a change from the Chicken Madras (also delicious) that I'd usually have. The garlic and coriander naan was perfect for mopping up the sauce.

Alongside the amazing food, the Summer House have a good range of cask ale, including Enville Ale, St Austell's Proper Job and Wye Valley's HPA and Butty Bach. You are guaranteed a good pint here, the Summer House is in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide 2025 and has had ale in great condition available for many years. I had the Proper Job which goes well with a curry!

Price-wise, food at the Summer House is affordable. We're making this a...

Really disappointing experience this evening. Me and my adult daughter rang ahead to confirm if this was a dog friendly pub. On arrival we were confronted by an older man, in the dog friendly area of the bar, who stated he was allergic to dogs which we found an odd remark considering we were sat in a dog friendly area. We double checked with the bar staff if this was the dog friendly area of the bar, which they confirmed it was and sat at the only available table. This man continued to loudly complain he was allergic to dogs, (this was my miniature sausage dog who was no where near him). At this point myself and my daughter felt extremely intimidated and uncomfortable. He continued to vocalise his point of view whilst we reminded him that we were sat in the dog friendly section of the pub. As two lone females confronted by an older male and the rest of his party, we felt intimated and unwelcome and had no other choice but to leave. Extremely disappointing when in a time of discrimination and prejudice we should be kind to our fellow...

This is a wonderful pub. A proper pub. A pub like pubs should be. They have a good range of beers from cooking lager to fancy continental lager. They have a few ciders, The ales are well kept. A sensible range of spirits including a good gin selection. Plus They do great curries. Seriously. If you like a good curry. Pay it a visit.

Garden is good size, when u enter the pub I wouldn't think they have a big garden, but to my surprise it was big, the sun was shining on us from early afternoon till late evening. They had bottled beer deals, food was good, didnt have big selection of cocktails, and size of the cocktail was small, but delicious.
