I recently celebrated my birthday alongside my husband as we share same birthday in July, and we decided to choose Anatolian Palace Turkish Restaurant in Worcester for our special occasion. We had high expectations for this restaurant due to its vibrant atmosphere and previous experiences we witnessed while dining there. However, our visit on the last Saturday left us feeling disappointed and let down.

Arriving at 6:30 p.m., we were excited to indulge in a nice meal and experience the lively birthday celebrations that we had enjoyed watching during previous visits. Our in-laws and our six-year-old son accompanied us, and our son was particularly thrilled about the birthday festivities.

The restaurant lived up to our expectations in terms of the quality of the food. We enjoyed our meal and spent two hours. However, as time passed and we eagerly awaited the presentation of the cake we had brought, it became apparent that something was amiss.

Around 9 p.m., realizing that the cake had not yet been brought out, we reminded one of the waiters about our birthday celebration. To our dismay, he casually informed us that they were busy and that we would have to wait. At this point, our son was growing tired, and we could no longer prolong our stay. The disappointment on our son's face was heart-wrenching as he had eagerly anticipated the birthday celebrations that never came to fruition.

I understand that a restaurant can get busy, but if they commit to providing such celebrations for their customers, they should adhere to that. It felt like our enjoyment was being sacrificed for the restaurant's convenience, which was disheartening.

Following our disappointing experience, I reached out to the restaurant's owner to express my dissatisfaction. While he did apologize for the oversight, his attempt to rectify the situation by offering a complimentary meal voucher missed the mark. We didn't need a voucher; we wanted to celebrate our birthday with our loved ones and cut our cake when we had originally planned.

In conclusion, our birthday experience at Anatolian Palace Turkish Restaurant fell short of our expectations. Despite the enjoyable meal, the failure to deliver on the promised birthday celebrations left us feeling disappointed, particularly our son. It is my hope that the restaurant takes customer commitments more seriously in the future to ensure that others don't encounter a similar letdown on their...

We have just returned from a family meal for my father in laws 80th birthday. We had family coming from Birmingham, and we chose this restaurant, having been there in the past with no issue. We booked a table for 13 of us at 6 pm. We were finally seated inside at around 6.15pm, having had to wait outside for our table to be ready. When seated, we were pushed into the corner of the restaurant. Luckily, there were children in our party as there was no way an adult could have been seated in one of the spaces. Unfortunately, there was a place setting missing. This was rectified by squeezing another place setting on to the bench seat. It wasn't possible for a place to be set on the end of the table due to a neighbouring parties table being as close as they were. The orders were taken. The drinks and starters arrived. No issue, except lack of elbow space to be able to eat comfortably. Then the childrens meals arrived. Perfect. It's great they bring the childrens meal first. However, 10 minutes later, after some of the children had almost finished, some of the adults' meals arrived. Two adult meals were missing. FOUR TIMES we had to ask where they were before a waiter finally took the initiative to investigate this. It appears that the waiters write the order and then put it through the computer to generate a list for the chef and to generate the bill. The waiter had not put through the 2 main meals we were missing, so they were never going to be cooked until the matter had been investigated. The two forgotten meals took around half an hour after the childrens meal to arrive. The food was lovely and as good as ever. However, having to spend my entire meal querying where 2 of the main meals were spoilt it. And we simply couldn't eat together as the meals were so staggered in their arrival. We were offered complimentary drinks. However, they were still made to pay for the meals that were forgotten. Which in my opinion should have been free. Especially as one of them was my father in laws. In my opinion, they seem to have become a victim of their own success. I felt the restaurant was cramped and overcrowded. Although there were plenty of staff, I don't believe I should have needed to ask four times where missing meals were. And surely staff could see they were missing and how much of their meals the rest of the party had eaten. I won't be recommending this restaurant again at...

very very disappointed about this occasion because on previous visits it was never like this:

• booked in a birthday meal for a large group of 14 people a WHOLE MONTH in advance and called a few days leading up for reminders; upon arriving we were told to wait outside for 25 mins while other large groups arriving after us were accommodated and seated.

• upon being seated and drinks and orders taken, bread and starters eaten, our main food didn’t arrive until 40-45 mins later - for reference we were seated at 9pm and main orders didn’t arrive til 10pm

• one person’s meal didn’t arrive with the others - when mentioning to the staff they got back to us saying they “lost his order ticket”. Three different staff, one after the other, would then ask what he ordered to bring back to the cooks. We were already halfway through our meals before his arrived.

• we asked for 3 JUGS of water for the table, and would only receive one. We asked the same staff again for 3 jugs and nothing for 20 mins. We asked a different staff for water and she came back with the other jugs.

• same thing with takeout boxes. Had to ask THREE DIFFERENT staff for takeout boxes to finally receive them.

• when the bill arrived we split it based on what we ordered. Three people checked the totals to make sure everything added up and all came to the correct number. Upon paying, Anatolian’s receipts came up to £60 short. So we had to pay a seemingly “extra” £60. I’ll give them grace for this one because it may have been an error on our part when paying the transactions but along with everything else it was a distasteful cherry on top.

tl;dr - we were asked to wait outside despite reserving tables a month in advance, didn’t receive our main meals until a whole hour after being seated, one person’s order ticket was “lost” and didn’t receive his food until much later, had to ask multiple staff to receive water and takeout boxes, and we may or may not have had to pay extra.

very very...

First time at this place and it definitely lived up to the hype. Went with friends who had spoken of this place so highly. We started with 2 hot mezes. These were a great start to our meal. The flavours were rich and there was a bit of everything on the plate. I had the lamb shank for my main. The lamb literally came straight off the bone and was so tender. Probably the best lamb shank I've ever had. It was cooked to perfection. To finish of the meal I had baklava. I find baklava is usually a miss in most places in England but I thought I'd give it a go as everything else had been amazing. The baklava was crispy and not too sweet which was just how I like it. I find most places have soggy baklava and its too sweet. The atmosphere in this place is rocking with a crazy song and dance if it's your birthday. There were 5 different birthdays during our visit. I think people just say it's a birthday for the experience you get but it's well worth it and a real laugh.

If I could give more stars I would! Absolutely brilliant place. I took my friend here for her 40th birthday tonight. We had come all the way from Wolverhampton and were certainly not disappointed. It was more than worth the trip. Initially we were confused on how to get to the restaurant. I had already parked the car and phoned the restaurant for directions. Jason the waiter came to find us! Jason continued to be amazing throughout the meal. He took photos for us, sang happy birthday to my friend with a lovely waitress, attended to our table and was generally fabulous. We were treated to a complementary dessert with a candle for my friend and some Turkish delight sweets. The food was AMAZING and I got to take home the rest in a doggy bag! Winner! Thank you so much for tonight. Yes it took an hour to get there but I'll definitely be back with my husband. Thank you for a superb night Jason and the rest of the team.

A really lovely turkish restaurant in the heart of worcester. Located in a small walkthrough shopping area the staff are very efficient and friendly, the restaurant itself is airy, bright and spotlessly clean and the food is delightful. The salmon was succulent and full of flavour with a generous portion of salad and potatoes. The lamb islim was equally delicious and full of flavour. I have marked it down one star for two reasons - the first person to serve us had his face mark on his chin instead of wearing it properly and secondly the food was served at a temperature that was 'ready to eat' but could have been hotter. A slow eater or someone caught in conversation might find their dish would be cold before finishing. Minor points though and definitely worth a visit. The complimentary bread and dips were also lovely. 2 mains and three soft drinks came in at just under 40 pounds.
