Long review
Were massive foodies and have been on a quest to find the best Indian in Worcester and surrounding area, now I know Ounce isn’t an Indian restaurant 😂 (before I receive a comment) but I believe it’s earned its place as one of the best food spots in Worcester! In our opinion 😊 for a few years, we’d read about Ounce some good reviews and some not so good, but I’m a great believer of everyone’s opinions vary 😊 so on the 13th August, Tracey booked a table and surprised me for my birthday! from start to finish the whole experience was amazing, the meet and greet from Kate was incredible she advised that it was £1 an ounce that night which was a Tuesday, but it also happens on a Wednesday night as well.. so definitely worth booking in the future just to avoid the disappointment !
On arrival I saw this bread dish being delivered to an adjacent table and enquired what it was, bread and gravy is the simple answer but the more refined explanation is bread & Jus.
I had the bread and Jus 😊 if you’ve been and haven’t tried it you are in for a treat it is the most indulgent starter I think I’ve ever had and so very simple!! focaccia bread and the most intense Jus you’re likely to taste anywhere else. I love a ribeye 12/14oz but for the £1 an oz I was treated to the butchers cut so a 14oz (rump) cooked medium rare comes with a Parmesan salad and fries I also added a peppercorn sauce, Tracey had the chicken breast with mash and griddled tender stem broccoli and the intense Jus, no additional sides were required, we had a few G&T’s and the night was complete, no dessert and a bill of £58. Now the fun bit is that we’ve eaten in 100’s of cities with all levels of cuisine but we’d rank this in the top 2, we dined here on the 13th August and we’ve been back 6 times already, we’ve done a Friday which is just a normal night, we’ve experienced the chateaubriand night on a Thursday and we’ve done both Tuesdays and Wednesday nights oh and we’ve just had the Sunday lunch, which we’ve all ready rebooked again!! The Sunday lunch is by far the best Sunday lunch out we’ve ever had, it was incredible. They even made us Gluten free cauliflower cheese, which is just as good as their regular cauliflower cheese!
The whole team are amazing, they’re friendly, informative and we have a laugh. Kate is top class and has a formidable team around
Each of our visits has been just as good as the last one, our server Tabitha always looks after us the steaks and chicken are always cooked to perfection in fact the whole experience start to visit is...
Read moreMy brother had been raving about Ounce for so long, saying it was the best steak he had ever tasted. My partner and I had previously had had pretty damn good steak from a well known steakhouse, so we were intrigued to see if Ounce could top it. Well, let me tell you about our experience.
We went to Ounce for my brother's birthday, at Sunday lunchtime. Granted we arrived late as traffic was terrible, but only 15 minutes. My mum ordered a roast, the rest of us order steak and sides. It took, no word of a lie, at least 45 minutes for our mains to arrive. We were all ravenous, and there were no staff in sight for us to check where our food was.
Alas, it finally arrived, very beautifully presented, and we tucked in to our much anticipated food. Oh how disappointed we were. The food was okay - absolutely no match to the aforementioned steakhouse we had previously frequented, and definitely not worth the expensive price tag. My mum also said her roast was alright, nothing to write home about. However, as we had been waiting such a long time for it to arrive, we ate it all up.
As soon as we were done, the staff cleared the table, and we were just discussing a pudding, when our experience was made even worse - a person who seemed to be the manager came up to our table and said they would be needing our table back in 5 minutes. I reminded him of the lengthy time we waited for our food, he said, rather rudely, that we were late to arrive and that they are a busy restaurant and want the table back. I couldn't believe how rude he was, we were all shocked. We still had drinks left, so we took our sweet time to finish them, paid our extortionate bill and left without leaving a tip.
Needless to say we will not be returning. I understand we arrived late, however I will not be rushed to finish my meal, especially when we have waited an absolute age for our food to arrive, and I'm paying a premium price for a subpar meal.
Well done if you reached the end of this review - you...
Read moreBooked a table for my son's birthday for 630 arrived on time and was seated quite quickly . We had a feeling almost instantly that we were being rushed , didn't really have time to to enjoy a drink and look at menu at our leisure ,waitress almost instantly wanted to take our orders. We then waited for at least 20 minutes for our food which was not a problem at all and I have to say the food was really good . We waited quite a while before the plates were cleared away only to be asked if there was anything else we wanted as if they expected us to ask for the bill , we asked for dessert menus only to be given one and to be asked almost instantly what we wanted as if we were being a inconvenience as the y obviously wanted the table ,once again we waited for our dessert s only to be watched to see how quickly they could clear our plates away . Once we had finished desserts we were promptly bought the bill and asked if we could hurry up as there were people waiting for the table we hadn't even had 2 hrs to have a drinks a large meal and dessert , didn't matter that we wanted more drinks or coffees ,it totally ruined the evening and appalling way to treat customers who had paid alot of money for food and drink it wouldn't have been so bad if we had been told on the phone when we booked the table there would be a time limit as we would have chosen somewhere else somewhere where we weren't rushed on such a special occasion. Very poor will not be going again and certainly not recommending Ounce to anyone very overpriced and rather...
