Selden Arms — Restaurant in Worthing

Worst pub I have EVER been to. Given the hacking odour of the place, my brother got given a glass with brown speckles that I can only presume were poo on his glass. There was no atmosphere whatsoever, just a load of lifeless codgers not saying a word. It stank of damp so much so that when I went into the toilet it smelled refreshing to me. My brother later reported however that the toilets in fact smelled of urine so I’m sure you can imagine how bad this codgery boozer really smelled. New ownership has injected a much needed modernisation. Service is great. Owners know a thing or two about how to do this well. It's a tough balance appealing to the masses and staying cutting edge. Selden errs towards the former and yet also manages to shows respect to the latter. Next to Worthing Hospital. To make this 5 stars? Include way above 8% ABV and way below 4% ABV. A superb little proper pub, with a great atmosphere not like the plastic theme pubs. They have easily the best beer choice in Worthing by a long way . Sure there's better eateries, even though it's pretty darn good ( the curry nights were legendary before covid) but that isn't where they specialize it's the beer selection that rotates regularly from all over the the country, no bog standard pumps you see everywhere else.
