Popped in here when trying to find a decent burger in Kidderminster. Had a look at the menu, not the cheapest but not over the top, had tables so decided to give it a go.
Nice greeting when stepping inside to what is a pretty good atmosphere. Order with the staff or order at the table so no having to track staff down if busy I guess.
Drinks arrived pretty promptly, first disappointment, the milk shake was potentially the worst I have ever had, it was basically a glass of milk with a little flavouring and some ice, runny and totally tasteless, why put ice in a milkshake, it was runny to start with and then you put ice in, maybe it’s a trend I’ve missed or something, I would have though a pricy milkshake would be better not worse. The latte was hot and tasted very good (that what my other half had).
Onto the food, I’m not hung up on presentation, I’m more about the food, but if you are, the food was plonked on the plate no more to be said really. The pancakes were reasonably good for a UK restaurant, nothing exceptional but decent portion and somewhat tasty. As for the burger however, obviously not an instant fast food joint type burger, so it was meaty at least but it was very bland, don’t know what they mix in there to try make it more than some compressed lean mince but whatever it is, it didn’t work. A little and tasteless.
We were not asked how the food was or spoken to at all after the food was delivered.
So why 2 stars. Service was prompt and friendly. Venue is nice inside and a pretty good location.
No stars for food quality, drink quality or value for money.
I did see some other plates being delivered and plenty of smiling faces so I can only assume there are some good choices on the menu and nice food to be had. Maybe my choices were just bad ones. The milk shake however is unforgivable, had it been evening I would have chosen an alcoholic beverage and no doubt would have been none the...
Read moreSo took my partner and her daughter out today for lunch with our grand-daughter. They picked the venue so I always go along as we have eaten here before. A large party had arrived before us celebrating a birthday and a few other tables were filled so apart from the birthday no mad rush. Staff on arrival were fine and explained the basics and said pick a table. No menu handed over so we sat down and took it up on ourselves to grab some off another table. Decided to order at the bar to beat the large birthday bash (didn't work as all there food came out 1st.) Maybe the online app works better than going to the bar, who knows 🙄 anyway mine personally was the twisted chicken club ciabatta. Presentation poor, bacon missing and lukewarm to cold at best. Checked with my partner and her daughter and their food was warm at best so they were happy 🤔 Called the waitress over and politely said food was lukewarm at Best and missing ingredients. She apologized and did offer a free drink and money back, didn't need a drink but thanked her anyway. 2nd waitress brought the refund over and also apologized. Waitress staff excellent so can't fault them. The manager Brett also came over after eye contact and apologized. 2nd waitress did say someone new in the kitchen, maybe who ever are in the kitchen need to check how long food as been sat before sending it out. Better training in that area or chef needs a talking to. Review of training from offering menus to sending food out. Waitress...
Read moreVery hit and miss service and food, Saturday evening the lady who greeted us was very friendly long dark wavy hair, the tapas was good for the price of 3 dishes and cocktails were okay. Monday visit, the short haired blonde lady was not so nice. Cocktails were average, the Long Island Iced tea is dreadful and I don't think there was any coke top, too much sours. We ordered our food on the app for the evening (as nothing else was open, we went back after being there for lunch, the tapas is good their ham & cheese panini is very bad, pickled onions in it are really awful) the app failed to inform us there was a Monday deal with the burgers a wine, beer or dessert free. My husband only noticed this after placing the order as it took his beer price off the cost once it has taken payment. When the lady came back we said after reading the paper menu that the app hadn't given us any information about the offer or the chance to add a free dessert as my cocktail was not included, it hadn't prompted to encourage you to take advantage of the offer. The waitress just said it can't be added retrospectively and the app isn't very clear, so she couldn't give us anything from the offer and just said sorry( after working in a pub you can write off a beer or food as wastage)out of principal we won't be going back after we had been 3 times, the food is not consistently good and the same price as an excellent burger and cocktail pub in...
