I went to the cafe today with my parents and brother to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday, three vegetarians and a vegan. I've always enjoyed the food here so was excited to share the experience with my family. Afternoon teas were priced at £16.50 per head and two days notice was given and a £33 deposit paid as requested on booking. When I enquired about the aft tea, I was told the sandwiches would include hummus, beetroot and carrot and curried tofu which sounded great. Much to my disappointment, my finger sandwiches were avacado and tomato, plain hummus, lettuce and tomato which was too bitter for any of us to eat, violife cheese slices and onion chutney and a cucumber sandwich which was literally cucumber slices on bread, (no effort and a little insulting I felt!) The bread was dry and stale tasting, (but it was a hot day). The cream for the vegetarians had curdled and the vegan I think was squirty cream from a can as it just turned to liquid very quickly and was of no use. The lemon drizzle cake was lovely and so were the scones and jam, but the chocolate cakes, (two of the selection were chocolate) were so overly sweet, only one of us could eat them and they just melted and turned sloppy. Overall, disappointing, overpriced and unimaginative. Certainly wouldn't recommend or return. We wanted it to feel special for my mom so we didn't complain, (I fully appreciate that this didn't give the cafe chance to put things right) but that said, there was SO much wrong! £66 could've been spent elsewhere in Bewdley and have been enjoyable and memorable for the right reasons. The location and...
Read moreI have been to this cafe today for afternoon tea, !!! Well that's what they said it was... I had to pre book the food before hand which I did a week ago, you can't book a table even though you have to pre order the food which is a bit odd. We arrived found a table I told a waitress that I'd pre orderd afternoon tea, our afternoon tea was brought to our table in 7 take away cartons as they said they didn't know if I was taking it away into the park which I believe is an option I had told them we were not going to the park, I was not offerd to have these cartons emptied and put onto an afternoon tea stand or even for the contents to be plated.. there was no salad apart from 2 cherry tomatoes , they were great big sandwiches our afternoon tea with my friends who I hadn't seen for 12 months as we all are nurses and have been just a little busy lately ! Was more like a road side pit stop for truckers these cartons were just dumped on our table we had to ask for clean plates for the cake..I wish I had taken photos to show other people how rubbish it was, I just can't believe they thought that was good enough... Never again , very disappointing and embarrassing as I was the one who...
Read moreI had a wonderful Afternoon Tea with my granddaughter here yesterday. Kay gave us a very personalised service and my granddaughter loved her birthday treat! The food was excellent! Freshly made, delicious sandwiches! Quality ham, tasty egg mayo and two very flavoursome vegan options; hummus, lettuce and tomato, and bhaji, chutney and slaw! The scones were melt-in-your-mouth scones, served with clotted cream, blackberry jam and a butter option! We loved the lemon drizzle slice but we were both too full to enjoy the generous slice of coffee and walnut cake. Kay kindly put the 2 slices into a cake-away box and my granddaughter took it home for her and her sister. Her sister said that it was extremely good! Excellent service at this lovely family run café, with equally excellent staff! Kay went above and beyond to make it an extra special treat for the birthday girl and me! Our table was set with a pretty table cloth and the tea was served in beautiful crockery! Loved the fresh berries too! Thank you so much for making it such an enjoyable afternoon Kay and the team! Lovely seeing and chatting with Colin, Sarah and...
