The Little Pack Horse Steak & Pie House — Restaurant in Wyre Forest

Booked a table for four people on Saturday 8th February 2025. When we arrived we asked for a bottle of prosecco which they didn’t have. Asked for Sauvignon Blanc and was given a 3/4 full bottle. When pointed out they said it was all they had left! However it was discounted as a result. We took our table and after looking at the menu decided we all wanted pies as the pub was supposed to be famous for them. Amazingly from the five they had advertised on the menu they had none in stock! We paid for our drinks and left to eat elsewhere. Extremely disappointed. Maybe it's because it's under new ownership but they should really have more to offer in both the food and drink department. It's not very often me and my wife get the chance to dine out on our own so I chose the pack horse what a mistake that was. First we got a drink fine, found table and were looking at menu and we ask about soup of the day but we're told about there famous home made pies which sounded great . Gave us the options which we both decided on so order starter which after 5 minutes was told they didn't have the one i ordered so chose another while eating this the waitress came over to tell us they didn't have the pies either so chose a simple burger each which also came out wrong. We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal here last night. A really tasty farmhouse pate and then... the most enormous mixed grill! My partner was very impressed as this is often his go to choice on a menu. He was not disappointed. All the meat was tender and tasty. I had the rump steak which was beautiful. The chips were delicious and tasted fresh and crispy. The onion rings and mushrooms were a lovely added extra. Needless to say we asked for a doggy bag from the mixed grill. And the service and drinks were impeccable. Warm cosy fire and cosy atmosphere.
