Im changing my rating to a 5 because after living here a year and a half, NOTHING has compared to it with respect to the quality of the food. Most of the local places I have tried have a wonderful and caring staff as does Duffys, but I really don't understand why, especially with the fresh products available here and foodie culture that seems to be going on everywhere in the world but washington state...anyway, thank the food gods for Duffys where the food and atmosphere are always inviting.
PREVIOUS REVIEW: It's been here for what seems forever and when I go in there it takes me back to a time left long ago. The Food: I must admit, I have a very hard time getting past the swedish pancakes, to the point I usually order 1 on the side on the rare occasion I do eat something else. They are lightly sweet buttery pillows of deliciousness! I prefer them with just butter and maybe q touch of jam but they are a great side dish for anything. They also have awesome bacon, thick, crispy with just the right fattiness. I've eaten the Crqab Louis and there was a very generous portion of Dungeness crab along with the standard accoutrement ', black olives, hard boiled eggs, etc., pretty standard and I'm sorry to say for the price (I think it was close to $30 at least, maybe a bit more) it just wasn't worth it. The dressing which is a huge part of a good Louis salad was just not that good I really didn't use it. Ok enough about food, overall I'd say if you go to Duffys you won't be sorry, their menu is large, the portions are bug and the prices, while a bit on the high side aren't too bad. I've barely scratched the surface of the menu and plan on eating there often now that I've moved to the area. The Atmosphere and Staff: overall..great. I always go to Elaine's stations because she has always gone above and beyond to make our experience great, she's really an asset to the restaurant. The atmosphere is old logging town chic. Books filled with the history of the area are available for purchase or you are welcome to...
Read moreWanted to enjoy a nice breakfast together to celebrate my husband’s birthday and to support local. We chose Duffy’s but were very underwhelmed by the cooking, especially with how high the prices are for the quality.
I ordered the Veggie omelet ($19.99) that looked promising on the menu and had me regretting my choice within moments of it being delivered. The “omelet” was simply unseasoned steamed veggies wrapped in an egg (very clearly not cooked together), not close to resembling an omelet. No seasoning was applied to any other ingredient included. It was literally a cooked egg + steamed veggies with a tiny bit of cheese sprinkled on top of the egg. Normally veggie dishes are flavorful, but that was not the case here. The best I could do was justify taking it home and trying to salvage the ingredients.
My husband ordered the patty + eggs ($17.99), and my toddler had the kids pancake meal with bacon ($9.99). The pancake was nice and fluffy, the patties appeared seasoned, and the eggs and bacon seemed pretty standard.
For two adult meals and a kids meal, we ended up having a bill of $60. We didn’t realize the coffee cups they placed on the table and filled for us weren’t included, so that was a surprise come check-out when we were already trying to justify the food we were given for the prices they were charging. At least the coffee was standard (good) for diner coffee and didn’t require sugar or creamer.
The veggie omelet could easily be improved by adding flavorful veggies (ex: green peppers or green onions which are already on the menu for other dishes), ditching the celery, and finding complementary seasoning. Also cooking jt like an actual omelet instead of wrapping the ingredients in an already cooked egg would help. It would also be helpful to be transparent about pricing for things offered at the table.
I will say, the service was good for it being a bit busy. The waitress was friendly and our table was tended to promptly. I just wish the food made it possible to...
Read moreFirst time here since new owners and welcome change food wise. We used to come here for years, and it went downhill food wise. We started out with the calamari, which was pleasantly priced, crispy, and the right consistency. The weird thing is that a slice of orange was served with it instead of lemon???? The clam chowder was a little strange as it was semi thick, not water thin and not Ivars chower thick, just like it was thinned a little. My Philadelphia cheesesteak was good with toasted roll, but then another weird thing is they served Au Jus with it??? Strange, but it wasn't bad, just too salty. The cheeseburger was good, but she was not told that it came with seasoned french fries vrs regular. The wife said they were good despite the fact she would have rather had regular fries, and if they did not have regular fries, she would have got onion rings. All in all the meal was good and we will be coming back. It is a much better improvement from the last time we were there. Service was good and really appreciated that they took my card up to the register as it's usually you pay when you leave.
UPDATE: 12/12/23 Tue. ONE STAR*, Went for breakfast. Was hopeful, but when the coffee was poured, we were never asked if we needed creamer so had to get up and find it myself. Ordered the steak and eggs for $21 and wife ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs $23. Small cup of coffee $3.49 ea. WOW!! $59.94 for breakfast. Insane. Unfortunately, the steak which was supposed to be medium rare was well done and tough as a hockey puck, inedible. Her chick fried was tough as shoe leather and her eggs which were supposed to be med were rock hard. The orange slice on each plate looked off and after tasting was spoiled. The hash browns were ok but not crispy. Very disappointed, hard to screw up breakfast, but at least the wheat toast was good. So, $60 for a couple pieces of toast, hmmm...
