This was our first visit ever! We were excited as soon as we walked in. The general store is filled with fun and beautiful items. From clothes to snacks, candy and candles. I could spend a couple of hours just looking around. We were quickly seated and greeted by a cheerful waitress. The atmosphere is so relaxing. The walls are covered with antiques, old pictures and things of the past. The blackberry tea I ordered was way too sweet and very strong. Almost like drinking coffee. And I drink black coffee. I asked for it to be diluted, and the second glass was worse. We weren't served our bread until our meal came out. In fact, the customers that came about 20 minutes after us, received their bread and plates almost immediately. Once our food came out, we were so disappointed. My husband ordered the chicken fried chicken with fried okra and mashed potatoes with brown gravy. The potatoes were not smooth but chunky and the gravy was horrible. The chicken had no bone and was more like a chicken fried steak. After eating the first piece he ordered some white gravy to put on the second piece. He said although the chicken was tender, it had no flavor. The gravy tastes like flour. So perhaps it wasn't cooked long enough. I ordered the country fried steak. It was horrible! It was not what I expected. It tasted like breakfast sausage. I thought it was the gravy. But it was the meat. Every single bite tastes like breakfast sausage. The breading was not crisp and the gravy had no flavor since all I tasted was sausage. Salad was crisp but the dressing tasted sour. The loaded baked potato was hard and dry. I could not finish the meal. It was just not good. This is by far the worst place we have ever eaten at. We will not eat here again. However, we will return to shop at the general store. We enjoyed walking around, there is so much to look at. And the prices are very...
Read moreThe waitress was nice but the food and timing can really use some work. We went for breakfast, Monday morning around 10am, and there really wasnt alot of people there. We got seated right away. We ordered the sunrise sampler and biscuits and gravy with bacon. After we ordered it took over 30 minutes to get our food. They were out of hashbrown casserole so I had to get regular hash browns instead. When the food came out I have never seen a Cracker Barrel serve such small portions and I have been to Cracker Barrels all over the country from Pensacola, Fl to New York and Washington and in between. My daughter got this bowl of gravy with one biscuit on it and one small under cooked piece of bacon on it. I got two eggs with a small spoon of grits that you couldn't even see under the eggs (my daughter even asked where were my grits), a half a piece of over cooked bacon, a burnt sausage patty, and a burnt piece of ham. I also was given a plate with only bowl of gravy nothing else. I dont know what I was supposed to do with it. Then my hashbrowns I received, instead of hashbrown casserole, were extremely undercooked (middle was still mushy and cold). When I asked where was the extra biscuits and cornbread we were told they ran out of biscuits and was cooking more (again not alot of people there the whole time and we had been there for about an hour at this point) and we were never offered cornbread. I was joking with a friend and took a picture of my daughters plate which got my hashbrowns and the empty plate of gravy. I didn't think about taking one of mine. My daughter's statement is it is the worst Cracker Barrel I have ever brought her too and again anytime we travel which is ALOT we stop and eat at a Cracker Barrel (I'm not going to name all the...
Read moreWe had a giftcard for Cracker Barrel so we decided to grab dinner there last night and I'm so glad we did. We started with fried pickles and they were so hot and fresh. Very crispy and great in the ranch. We both got the country fried chicken which comes with two huge pieces of fried chicken. My lady got corn, mashed potatoes and dumplins. Corn was sweet, very tasty. Dumplins were hot and delicious. The mashed potatoes that we both got with brown gravy were amazing. I got the hash brown casserole that was a little overcooked but I liked the crispy hash brown bits personally. I also got the Mac and cheese which was super creamy and delicious. Now on to these two huge pieces of chicken, wow. They were crispy and crunchy. The batter was very tasty and stayed on the entire time. We got the Sawmill (white) gravy on the side so that it didn't make them soggy. So much chicken that we both were able to take one piece home. Everything was hot and fresh including the biscuits they brought out which were awesome in the gravy btw. Very hot and fluffy. Our server Rena was the absolute best and made our dining experience 10x better. She was very on point, stayed on top of drink refills, brought us extra sauces super fast, checked on us regularly, and always had a smile on her face. If you go in, ask for her! She was awesome and I hope the management at Cracker Barrel knows it. Anyway, everything was 11/10 for us. We left full with plenty of leftovers...
