We travel on a monthly basis and always stay at Super 8 and Motel 6. By far this is the worst one of these establishments we have yet to stay in. ||But before I get into the negatives there was a positive. This place had free breakfast, and even has waffles. If you've stayed in a Holiday Inn Express you know what I mean about awesome waffles. ||||I think one of its downfalls is the office is located in a separate building away from the rooms. The staff is unable to hear, supervise, or witness any activity going on around the rooms. ||Do to this we're quite certain a prostitute visited a patron of a room near ours. We watched her or him arrive, they sat in their very nice car for sometime which made us suspicious for our vehicle parked across from it. so we were on the lookout. But when the person got out, all concern for our vehicle's safety fleeted, in the realization this him/her was here to steal someone's baby batter not someones wheels.. We realized this watching a sexy stiletto, connected to long legs adorned with the tightest fishnets sardines can't escape, and bordered by the lace of the thigh high garters that then revealed a tiny miniskirt, a body-con dress that found itself on the awkward physic of a pre-teen looking adolescent. I'm sure its not a woman as there was no hips, and no breast, No hour glass figure whatsoever.. Or... this poor baby girl is out husslin' way too early before puberty. The person had typical make up on as any proud drag would and then multicolor hair of what I think blue shades, could be dyed hair or possibly a wig just like in that Pretty Woman's film. But boy I tell you what, this he-she strutted it's stuff across the crummy Super 8 parking lot better then I could in heels... It was as smooth as the boots were made for walking music video..... Impressive. And the real clue this was a lady/man of the night was that when we woke at 0600 it's car was gone. So anyway that was an interesting visual lesson to my kids. So this visitor happened round 10ish? ||||Secondly around midnight, a car alarm goes off. we listen to it for a few seconds and it's not stopping... We realize crap that's ours cause were the only idiots not trying to turn it off assuming its not ours. We look out the window and the proximity of the alarm definitely sounds like its coming from ours. We grab our weapons and head out the door. As we open the door a tan car (Not ours) is driving away. Alarm still blazing and lights still flashing! It skids out quickly through the back parking lot to the side road behind the hotel and into the night with the alarm fading away. Again Impressive, we always thought there was a kill switch to drive while the alarm was on... This thief found a way. ||||Thirdly we reserved a non-smoking room. When we arrived the room had a funk.. bearable but still funkish. Like it was smoked in and so many cleaning products were used to hide the smell. And the smoke alarm clearly visible that has been disengaged and left with an empty battery port hanging open was a clear giveaway as well.||||Lastly the room itself. Rm 242. The sink leaked on the floor a bit. The tub lacked caulking around the base. I'm concerned the room has further leaks as the floor in-front of the sink and in the bathroom was spongy. Might have some rotting water logged base boards there? One of our pillows looked like it was stained with.......something... There was a suspicious white smear at the base of the second bed. And the linens sucked. Very thin. BUT the A/C was bangin'. The heater not so much as it immediately put out a burning smell, and made the room as humid as a hookers......mmmhmm. ||With all that said the office ladies were very nice. And I was amazed that the hotel does not charge a cancellation fee! (I'm sure you can see why I'd inquire about that!) Because if hookers and car thefts are a Thursday night, I was concerned what a Friday night might bring! ||So neat life experience to have once... But I think I'll stay elsewhere the next time we...
Read moreManagers fault, we paid for our room for a whole week day before and then he kept charging our card too soon so he was not getting our payment, and tried kicking me out of our room when the problem was on his end!! And all we got was a little apology to my husband! We paid for a whole week yesterday and then today the manager sends a lady into my room saying that she thought we were checked out and the guy at the front desk sent her in here! The man at the front desk was really rude, lieing to me that he tried calling my husband (no history of his call!) as I tried showing him that we DID pay for the room! If you stay here go through EXPEDIA and make sure that you print out your receipt so that this man cannot kick you out. Our room has a little tiny refrigerator that barely has enough room for maybe 5 days worth of food, if that and the freezer inside it was turned up so high it's completely iced over and so we had to throw away all of our frozen food and we were told we might blow a breaker in our room if we plugged our little tiny George Foreman grill in. And our toilet is not working, had to take the lid off of it to be able to flush it and it plugged up so we're having to wait an hour for the maintenance guy to bring us a plunger since there aren't any on the property. The manager needs to work on his customer skills bad!!! For something like almost kicking us out of our room when the mistake was solely on the manager here we should have at least gotten a discount for all the trouble he has put us through! My husband works hard for our money, and we paid for our room... It isn't our fault that you have tried charging our card so many times that they emailed me asking if you were fraudulent and I had to tell them no so that they would finally let our payment go through to you!! And having that lady come into our room without knocking because you told her we were no longer here when you knew we were.. was...
Read moreI came in around 4:30 AM had driven the 3 hours from Dallas after taking a red eye from LA. So, when I reached motel I was spent. Checked in and went to my room to discover an in-made bed and in-emptied trash cans. Took the key from the previous occupant back to the front desk along with my key. I asked for another room and some consideration from having spent my time checking out the dirty used room. Tina the clerk became agitated and said that she would let me stay until 1 O'clock rather than having to leave at the regular 12 O'clock check out. I told her that her offer wouldn't help because I'd be leaving well before both times. Her response was that she was being "very nice" to me and that she did not even have to rent me a room until after t 3 pm that afternoon. I said that I appreciated her niceness but since this was a business rather social relationship I would appreciate her niceness expressed in a monetary discount. She became even more agitated and decided to assert her authority by giving me a refund and refusing to rent me a room. She said that I could go and rent a 100 dollar room in the surrounding area. Spoke to the manager on the phone in private when I requested to represent myself to the manager she took the phone and went into the office. The manager came down refunded my money and told me to be on my way. I went across the highway to the motel 6 and got what turned out to be a great room for a bit less and was allowed to stay a full day and a half which I ended up needing to do. God is good and the staff and manager Ms. Ledbetter were great. Kudos to motel 6 for their graciousness and care. Skep Super 8 in Abilene as Tina is not interested in the motel making money and if you read the reviews Tina and staff are very happy to run their employers business over...
