I wish I had read reviews before we came here. We're in from out of town and my husband said let's go there. As we stood there almost 5 minutes waiting for somebody to come take our order I told my husband I had a bad feeling about this place. And I should have gone with my gut instinct. Took over 30 minutes to get our two burgers and treat yourself cheesy fries. The fries were cold greasy and limp. The burgers were slightly warm. It look like there were three guys working in the kitchen and one of them actually came out and took our order and then a woman showed up that looked like she was behind the counter to take orders. This was 5:00 p.m. and there were unbussed tables everywhere. trash all over the floor. two of the self-serve pickle barrels were empty. There were flies everywhere. I looked at the wall next to me which was where the big windows are that look on to the outside patio and they were covered with dust and spider webs the people working there look like they hated their life and I can see why because they have to work at this place. It's completely filthy everywhere and needs a deep clean like a pressure wash deep clean to the entire inside of the restaurant. there was garbage and flies all over the area where the flatware and sugar and straws and soft drink dispenser is. The ladies room had trash all over the floor and neither soap dispenser had any soap in it so I don't know how the employees are washing their hands before they go back to work is their instructed to on the sign. DO...

We waited two weeks to try Twisted Root in hopes the crowds would have died down some! We braved the restaurant with three small children early, at 5:15 hoping to beat the dinner crowd.

The line to order was long but it moved pretty quickly and the customer service at the counter was great! Finding a table was tough but the patio was a quiet retreat from the loud crowds inside.

We waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our food which is an eternity with three small children. Our friends who ordered right after us waited an hour and a half for their food. The longer we were there the more people there were standing just waiting for tables to open up. It felt weird eating with people just staring at us waiting for us to leave.

The service on the patio was incredible despite the long wait and the food was really good! I really wanted to try a root beer float after my burger but feared how long that would take and decided to pass. I’ve heard it’s incredible!

It will likely be a while before we return as it’s just entirely too long to wait with children. But I look forward to when we do...

First time at the Abilene location, San Angelo location rocks! But was less than impressed with all factors except the music. Gf’s burger was dried out beef with no flavor, was a mess to even handle after a few bites. The “Twisted-cut cheese fries” are simply normal potato skin fries with sliced cheese on top that came undercooked and cold. I had just the “Classic burger” which was simple enough for me but the beef was once again dried out with no flavor my side of fries were pretty good though! Also forgot my milkshake and seemed upset when I mentioned it with a receipt.

The service was sub-par, everyone seemed annoyed. The young lady that took our order was nice but overwhelmed. The two stars go out to the young man who cleaned our table with a smile on his face and a socially good attitude to speak with when we left after fifteen minutes of “enjoying” our meal when we had already waited forty some odd minutes to retrieve said meal.

(This was a $48 meal incase anyone was wondering, prices at San Angelo location were cheaper just from memory could be...

The food and atmosphere is good. They have an all you can eat pickle bar, which is unique! It also has a lot of pop-culture woven in. You can also request wild-game meat. Elk was available on the day we were there. Our initial ordering went great, took a while for the food to come out. I took the last fork, told the counter worker and they never replenished. We ordered 2 shakes after our meal and it was over 20 minutes to get it and it was because the front worker (different than the one we initially ordered with) just had not made them. She just stood there and acted like everything was an inconvenience to her. We had to ask where the shakes were and it was another 10 minutes as we stood by the counter. While standing and waiting a gentleman was looking for a fork...they still had not replenished them. Sad the service turned out poorly. Maybe just 1 employee, you never know. The rest went well!

Ok, so my family ordered the millionaire, classic, Cobb salad w chicken, and the ain’t no chicken club, fries, and the loaded fries. Burgers were average at best, chicken sandwich was the best, fries were below average and cold. We asked for some fresh fries and this really helpful server got some more for us and about half of them were still cold. The salad was mid as well. We saw a young man propose to a young lady and she accepted! Everyone applauded and that was really cool. Another unique experience was when my daughter went to the restroom and a random dog walked into her stall. It was a friendly dog. The atmosphere was great though; really pleasant patio by the water. If I was just hanging with friends to grab a few drinks I think I would come back, but I wouldn’t come here for the food again.

My wife and I have been to the Twisted Root in San Angelo a couple of times and enjoyed our meals there. The Abilene one is mediocre at best. Service earned them a star because it was good and the folks working there were friendly. The second star was that the restaurant and atmosphere was nice. Especially outdoors. The tootsies chicken/ Nashville chicken clone wasn’t hot at all and extremely disappointing. Chicken was too salty. Cheese fries were terrible. I think we had two bites and threw them in the trash. Onion straw/ rings were meh. Wife’s burger was too salty and meh as well. All for the great price of 43 bucks……….. I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to go here and unfortunately the wife and I won’t be coming back.
