Waffle House — Restaurant in Abingdon

Came in last night and had a very upsetting experience. Our server Alisha was great. She was just about the only person out of the 5 total there that was actually working. When she was ready for our order to be started she asked both the other cooks if they would come and start the food and they told her no, so she started it herself. There was one minor issue with our food, she was very professional and she offered to fix it on the house but it wasn’t at all necessary. Alisha was running around doing basically everything and we still had great service and never went without a thing. I don’t want the rest of this review to overshadow that she was a great waitress.

The one star comes from the other employees. The manager, or who I presume was, was acting like a 13 year old the entire time. Walking around cracking poor taste jokes and singing at the top of her lungs and flirting with the cook. Extremely rude to the other employees on different occasions and criticized just about everything anyone else was doing. If she wasn’t actively hindering everyone else she was sitting in a booth on her phone.

The other server working, who we only saw a handful of times, actually screamed across the restaurant at Alisha. The other waitress was no where to be found so Alisha took the next table to come in. When the other waitress finally came back from where ever she was she got upset that Alisha had taken the table, yelled at her that it was hers, and then threw a fit and cussed under her breath and slammed the door to go outside.

It’s Waffle House, the food is always great but the environment is rowdy and rough around the edges, that’s the charm. But it’s completely different when your employees are being disrespectful,...

This is a brand new location so I'll cut them some slack. The menu has been pared down and changed. Lettuce and onionis are now chopped up for burgers. Before, you got a decent sized piece of lettuce and a slice of each. Hashbrown toppings are individually priced.

The food was okay overall but the service was slow. I ordered a cheeseburger without onions or tomatoes and explained that onions is a food allergy. I and a regular order of hashbrowns with it. My husband got a ham and cheese omelette plate. His hashbrowns were chunked. There weren't any problems with his meal. He said it was good and liked it. Mine however...

The burger came out with onions and a large slice of tomato on it. I saw it immediately and feel she should have too. Before I could say anything she walked off. Another server came immediately when I flagged ours. She immediately apologized and whisked the plate away. I heard her explain about food allergies to our server and she came over and apologized.

Finally the burger arrived. No lettuce but I let that go. It was cooked okay but just barely. She said the hashbrowns were coming. Several minutes later I get a plate of warm soggy hashbrowns that weren't even browned. I asked for the mustard ahead forgotten earlier.

The service overall was slow even though they weren't busy. There was a small family, the two of us and another patron. Social distance means plexiglass between booths and seats blocked off. Our bill was $23 and change...

Update: Was offered free meal to go back and give it a second shot by Angel. Said our name would be on a list. Showed up, no name on list, same people working, same rudeness and filth. I'll never got any Waffle house again. Original: Not very clean. Don't go late because third shift is rude and not there to work. Plates thrown down on the table at us. Cook literally left to go sit in car and sleep. This was after we were told it's going to be a while on any biscuits and gravy and we weren't in a hurry so we said we would wait. When the elderly waitress came back, she brought the food and slammed it down and then came back 4-5 minutes later to inform about no biscuits and gravy. So it went from a wait to not happening. The food brought wasn't that great and the attitude remained. My wife is too kind hearted because I wanted to leave at the slam of plates for no reason. The management of this place is poor to put it nicely. I won't be returning to this location. I probably won't be returning to any Waffle house. Worst experience...
