Delicious food, great service, and so beautiful on the inside. From the outside you would never guess this restaurant was so inviting and large. The gorgeous and traditional decor from ceiling to floors reflect the warmth of Mexican culture beautifully. There is an authenticity felt immediately upon walking in. Unique lighting and different colored walls in each room create nice ambience too. The music was traditional and added more joy and warmth of the restaurant. All of the diners seemed to represent all sorts of people from different backgrounds and of all ages: singles dining solo on their lunch hour, senior couples, a group of seniors exchanging laughs, young couples, friends getting together, coworkers on their lunch hour, families of all sizes, etc- everybody seems to really like this place. For the lunch hour it was extremely busy yet the server, Nicholas, made sure to check back quite often with courtesy and consideration. He, along with other servers, constantly flurried back and forth from the kitchen staying composed, confident, and cheerful despite the insane lunch rush hour. In fact, all of the staff appeared to work very well with each other. Additionally, there was a comfort in the way most people seemed to be at ease enjoying their time dining here. There was no feeling of being rushed and ushered out as fast as possible. Portions were big, and the tortilla chips were the crispy-thin kind ☺️ with spicy salsa. Well, I loved this place. Nothing else to add....
Read moreI have been coming to De Campana for nearly 30 years now and it is the best Mexican food and margaritas in North America...don't even try to argue with me about it. I have eaten Mexican food from hundreds of places in and out of Chicago and this is it. Tucked away in the corner of a strip mall, a small yet cozy establishment, modestly decorated, with top notch service and consistently good food. Their margaritas are worth the trip just by themselves. Order the ultimate margarita and you will not be diapointed unless you have a problem with alcohol. These ritas pack a punch and 1 will definitely start the party. The mix they use is only sold at one secretive place in the city and they premix them with tequila so you are not going to be able to recreate them. Dont want food and just wanto drink by yourself.. they have bar just for you connected to the resturant (which also serve food for the restaurant). As for the menu, everything is great. Steak tacos are perfectly tender bites perfectly seasoned. Combo plates give you more food than you know what to do with. Guacamole, I won't even tell you how it is because it is so good. Refried beans, you don't know what refried bean taste like if you have not eaten here. I wake up in the middle of the night 3 days a week just craving these beans. Enough said, if you want great food made by great people, with great service, great drinks, and great chips and salsa and everything else, here...
Read moreWe tried them years ago and were disappointed. My husbands steak had no flavor and my chicken tacos were just as bland. Fast forward almost 8 years we decided to give them a other try. I'm glad we did because dinner was delicious all around. Picked up dinner for 6. 3 kids chicken quesadillas 2 with fries 1 with rice and beans. My daughters just added salt and cheese to her beans and ate them with some chips. Besides that all the kids loved them. Momma had 2 chicken tacos. She said they were delicious. I ordered the Acapulco plate 1 beef tostada, 1 cheese enchilada and 1 crispy chicken taco. Everything was well put together, and very flavorful. My hubby got the Campana plate fiesta style. 1 chicken enchilada, 1 crispy beef taco, 1 beef chile relleno and bistek a la Mexicana. He switched up the enchilada for steak. He really enjoyed his meal. We both said we'll definitely be trying other menu items at...
