I came here for lunch with my colleagues on a weekday. We were a little confused seeing the other Big Yummy when we pulled up, but quickly realized that this was the restaurant and that was a bakery/market. When we entered, we saw a few people inside and two young women at the register. On the left side of the register, there was an area for pastries/baked goods. Most of the items were taken. When looking at the menu, we weren’t too sure what a lot of the items were so a quick Google search helped. The young ladies at the front also explained what some of the terms were as we were unfamiliar. I’d recommend adding what some of the meats are in italics for more awareness.
I ended up ordering a Pastelitos Queso and Cachapa con Queso. Both my colleagues ordered the Arroz con Chuleta (Rice with Pork). The Pastelitos Queso was basically a square block of salted Venezuelan cheese that was then fried. It was pretty salty and I was only able to finish half of it. Wasn’t too sure if it’s supposed to accompany something. The Cachapa con Queso was interesting. It was like a quesadilla made out of corn (sweet) and the filling was this stretchy salted cheese. I thought the balance of salt and sweet was quite nice. It was also very filling! The cheese on top was a little salty as well. Not sure how this would be with meat, but I’ll give it a try if I go to another Venezuelan restaurant. My colleagues indicated that their meal (Rice, Pork, and Plantains) was good, but not as filling as they had hoped. One of them was still a little hungry. They were however pleasantly surprised. We all enjoyed our meals here and were glad that this was the restaurant we chose for our first...
Read moreI have read the reviews of this place and some made me seriously laugh. Comments regarding poor customer service, high price and even the fact that "anyone can cook like that". Well, I personally have never had an issue with customer service, the place is always packed and if sometimes they can not be "friendly" is because they are BUSY. So those who need to socialize with the cook, go to a place with no customers and I will assure you, they will be friendly to you. High price? I am a beleiver that quality costs money. There has not been a time where the food was tasteless, overcooked or reheated. Every time, food has been cooked on the spot, of great taste and the quality without a match. I rather pay for quality and taste than a reheated food from the day before. And if you think you can cook like that, then stay home, cook yourself and stop criticizing the success of others. This place is THE BEST Venezuelan food truck on...
Read moreThe food is amazing, I just love it. But the customer service of the employee in the cashier is terrible. I am talking about the girl I don’t know her name but you asked her something or call to order and is like she doesn’t even want to be there. When I call for an order I always asked if you guys can put some “salsa “ and she said to me “you guys always do it” but I asked because you guys never do it but that’s is not the problem I don’t care I know sometimes you are busy, the thing is when I got there I check the order I said to her: if can I have some “salsa” please? and she just roll her eyes and don’t answered. Just gave me the “salsa” but that’s not good not at all. That’s a terrible customer service. Just please try to talk to her because every time I order (And I order at least once per week) she has an attitude. When the owner is at the cashier is different, he is really nice and has a great...
