Short version/TLDR
⢠Was told days before Memorial Day weekend that readings would be on saleā$25 for 15 minutes (almost 40% off). ⢠Came in Friday, was told āNo sale on readingsāāonly 10% off store items. ⢠Drove 30 minutes just to leave disappointed. ⢠This was meant as a birthday + post-finals treat to myself. ⢠Iāve been growing more and more frustrated with this place for years now.
Long detailed version
Edit āNot sure who told you that.ā Not sure who told me what? I said a lot in this post. The ownerās reply isnāt specific at all--almost like 'they' posted too soon. Are they talking about the faulty sale info I got? I was told the reading sale was Friday through Memorial Day weekend, so I came Friday. And Christian told me, thank you. Not really seeing how this response addresses the problem.
Came In For a Reading . . . Didnāt Get a Reading I came in today for a reading. A few days before, Iād been here and was told that the weekend of Memorial Day was going to feature a sale on readingsāspecifically, $25 for 15 minutes. Itās usually $40 for the same time. Well, I got there and . . . āNo, weāre not running a sale on readings. Weāre running 10% off store items.ā For me, the drive is like 20-30 minutes. And thatās if thereās no traffic, construction, or accidents (lol, yeah, right). AND thatās taking the tollway. Point is, I want to engage with this company enough to make the trip. But I got there and received the bait and switch.
Even the āSaleā Wasnāt a Sale Letās be real, 10% off store items is not really a sale. Itās more like taking the price from ātruly outrageousā down to just āoutrageousā. Buy an $8 stone, save 80 cents? Does that sound like a deal to you? I get that there must be markups to turn a profit. But the odds of the store having paid anywhere near $8 for the stone are pretty poor. Itās probably closer to $0.50-$1.50 a stone (if theyāre paying near the full $8, they need to improve their sourcing methods). So, can they offer more than 80 cents off the $8? Iāve probably spent half a grand here in the past couple of years. Is that not worth more than 10% off on a holiday?
They Support Personal Growth, In a Restrictive, Rat-Race Sort of Way Reportedly, their readers are forbidden to give customers readings outside of work. Excuse me, but what kind of controlling, corporate nonsense is that? This kind of thing literally restricts and cheapens any gift a reader may have. And for what? What does the company think will happen? A readerās going to steal all their business? What a myopic, juvenile, and anti-abundance practice. Why donāt the owners have faith in their own service? Artificially limiting your readersā share of abundance flies in the face of the entire purpose of spiritualityālifting others up, celebrating their gifts. Hopefully, this policy has changed.
The Actual Problem Hereās what really fries me about this: Iām willing and have paid full price almost every time. I want to engage with the store, and I like the art of spiritualism. And that is STILL not enough for this company. Other reviews have mentioned similar issues, and I agree. I also agree with the growing consensus that thereās something sterile and manipulative about the whole vibe of the place. Most of the staff seem genuine. But the spirit of the companyās underlying intentions feels off. It honestly seems like a cash grab, and a poorly disguised one at that. I have no issue with anyone making their money. And the heavy markups and overpriced readings are even excusable.
My issue is that this company puts on an image of a āfriendly neighborhood metaphysical shopā. Yet, this is undoubtedly rooted in a corporate profit agenda. Itās not the prices or even the woefully limiting policies; itās the inauthenticity. At one point the owners probably meant well. But I get the strong impression that theyāve suffered enormous disenchantment from this work. Itās a shame theyāre failing to admit it.
The Rating 1 star. I sincerely feel disrespected, and the place appears to be abandoning its community.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited this store on Sunday August 9 at 1:30 and the cashier with the short curly hair didnāt meet the level of service that Iāve come to expect from Soultopia.Itās a little disappointing that she walked over and asked our group of āblack peopleā how weāre doing over 100 times(almost like we were being watched),yet when it came time to actually āservice my groupāIām pretty sure we were overcharged for a few crystals, she took a phone call while checking me out and proceeded to answer questions(she should have put them on hold since there were other associates available to assist so i didnāt have to wait) and her one second process of ācleansing my crystals in the singing bowl was laughable(there was maybe four people including my three friends and I in the store at that point)This is a spiritual environment (or at least should be)and her energy was very negative and dark!Customer service and common sense are rare these days and this cashier was a pure example of what not to do.The vibe is completely different than what Iām used to.(Iāve noticed this sentiment in other reviews)She also mentioned to a lady who was white that she was sorry she couldnāt check on her, however if she wouldnāt have beenāchecking on my black friends and Iā so muchāIām sure she would have had more time to actually āhelpā the other customer(It was only one lady in there besides us at that time)My friends noticed as well and we decided we will not be returning and I realize that I probably should have left instead of spending my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe entire team at SoulTopia is stellar: extremely knowledgeable, friendly, well-trained in their fields of expertise, and approachable. Metaphysical stores of this caliber often seem intimidating, and I have found SoulTopia to be a warm, welcoming community. Their selection of crystals is beautiful, and affordable. Any collector can pick up a collection of their favorite tumbled or natural stones for a very fair price. SoulTopia has an amazing selection of crystal bracelets, tarot cards, candles, and crystal charms to offer, and an interesting array of herbs and supplies to make your own sprays. I trust their tips and recommendations when making any purchase.
They have a very respected list of healers and messengers on staff, and are led by owner and psychic, Michelle. I have used Michelle for readings for myself, and for one of my best friends. Her readings are thoughtfully delivered with care, are concise, and accurate. I trust in her intuitive abilities implicitly.
SoulTopia also offers a variety of courses open to the public, and I have attended these courses, and completed one level of certification. I have found these classes to be filled with thinkers of all types. The courses are abundant with great information, and exercises for those who seek to stretch their intuitive muscles, and above all, learn. Any student would benefit greatly from attending a single class, or sign up for a specific program.
SoulTopia is not just a store, but a community of wonder,...
