I don’t quite know where to start here. I hope the drinks and service at the bar are better than the dining
First things, first. The service was horrible. There were almost no patrons in the place at around 3PM on a Friday. There were two ladies tending the bar and the dining room. One was eating and the other too busy playing on her phone to keep tea in a glass. That alone would prevent me from returning. But alas there is more.
It is no secret that Addison has more restaurants per capita that any surrounding city. Suffice to say, if you are going to start a restaurant in such a city, you better bring you ‘A’ game. You can’t move in Addison without tripping over a restaurant. Subpar anything is not really tolerated here.
This is a bar and a restaurant. Bar means mixed drinks. They have no soda fountain. You have a very limited choice of soda, unsweet tea and some cultural drinks such is Horchata. Which begs the question, “Do you use bottle/can sodas for all of your mixed drinks?” Seems expensive. And the patrons eating aren’t very happy to have such little selections or pay for each bottle. A minor annoyance but an annoyance never-the-less.
To start the meal off, we thought we would have the guacamole and chips. One of my favorite appetizers. For $9 you get a scoop of guacamole and a hand full of chips. The Guacamole is good, but really? $9?? They discounted this at the end of the meal for us. Thank you for that, but why charge that to begin with?
Moving on the entrée. From the name, you would assume this restaurant specializes in fish. Most of the menu isn’t. But, they do have choices of steamed and fried fish/shrimp. I decided to order two catfish fillets and 20 fried shrimp. It seemed the safe option. The fish had a cornmeal/flour breading. Not my favorite but it was tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly. What I did notice was the lack of the nasty fishy taste/smell one gets typically from farm raised catfish. Thiers was very good. But that’s where the good ended.
They butterflied the shrimp to the point it was flat. Then they cooked it till it was rubbery. You couldn’t tell the difference between the batter and the shrimp. If you are going to charge me $24 for 20 shrimp, they should at least be cooked correctly. It could have only been worse if it were burnt. The fries were over cooked as well. I don’t have any idea when the last time they changed the fry oil. It certainly wasn’t that day.
I certainly hope their income from the bar is enough to keep them in business. The service is horrible. If they want to command those prices for their offerings, the least they could do is cook it all correctly. They won’t get another shot with me.
The final nail was the sewage smell that I caught walking past the bar on my way out. Had I smelled that coming in, I would have never made it to the table.

Read moreEl Sinaloense in Addison makes Aguachiles so good that they will make you smile. I discovered this place while driving by. This is the 4th stop on my quest to find the best Aguachiles near me.
The restaurant is bright and open. They have lots of large tv’s all around. It kinda felt like being in an empty nightclub. I visited around 2pm on a Friday. The staff was friendly and accommodating.
I started off with a Frozen Pina Colada. It did not taste like coconut very much. It tasted more like a vanilla drink with rum. I tried a drink called a Malibu. It wasn’t my cup of tea. I ordered the guacamole and it was flavorless . Im a big fan of tableside guacamole. This wasn’t. My friend tried the ground beef taco plate. I tasted them and it was lacking salt. Rice and beans were nothing special . I ordered the Fish Ceviche and the Aguachiles Verde for my meal. The ceviche was very disappointing. The fish was salty and tasted like frozen fish from the grocery store. Still, the aguachiles were by far the star of the show. The presentation was enticing and the smell was intoxicating. I think I may be building up a tolerance to the heat in the dish . The sauce is made with Serrano or Habanero peppers, salt , cilantro, and lime juice . The dish was definitely very hot but it was not painfully hot. The shrimp tasted fresh. The sauce had flavor but did not taste sour. All the ingredients came together harmoniously.
I think I have found my new go to spot for Aguachiles. I rate their Aguachiles alone a 4. The other food we ordered was bland. I totally recommend this place. If you want delicious Aguachiles Verde, mosey on over to El Sinaloense Addison. I know that I will...
Read moreWhere do I start? First off, not cool that some of these reviews were left by the staff. Overall bad experience in food flavor. Service was good. Overpriced- chips and salsa $7 fajitas $18. Probably wouldn't mind if food had better flavor. About $2.00 too much on most plates. Not sure who their end customer is with these prices . We also ordered Shrimp soup- this one was basically chile soup with Zero seafood flavor. I've had hundreds of this type of soup and was surprised at a chile base. Soup was not edible once the 6 shrimp were eaten. Also not a fan of digging my hands in my food but had no choice in this one as shrimp were not peeled. Eyes, legs, shell were not removed. Also a first for me. Would not order again. 3.Chicken tenders- who knew you could mess these up but seasoning was sub par as was the consistency of the batter. Looks like they used a fish breading but didn't translate well to chicken. Margaritas- also pricey for the size you get. Mine was a bright green. Good indicator of very little alcohol and a lot of sour mix. It also melted completely before I could finish my dinnner. Would not order again
Overall the experience was not great, which is strange considering it's the same owner as the Rio Bravo that was in its place just 6 months ago. It looks like they are trying to cut corners in the kitchen and bar area but what they are doing is loosing...
