I feel bad writing this because I LOVED this the first time I was here - this was the second time I've gone.
We (3 of us) had to wait a few minutes for anyone to come out - for reference it was about 12-12:30. All staff were in the back. When someone did come out, I watched her rinse her hands briefly, but not properly wash them. She also did not wear gloves. I work in a kitchen, and while I understand freshly washed hands can be cleaner than gloves, I wouldn't use bare hands to serve food like this, especially with raw foods like fish involved. A second employee did come out to serve some other people, and she was wearing gloves.
I took mine to-go, and when I got home (less than 10 minutes) my fish was visibly grey. Gave it the benefit of the doubt (maybe it was just because of the sauce?), but the fish was also a weird texture. I ate around it as I had just left the gym and hadn't ate beforehand, but wouldn't have otherwise. Everything that I loved the first time I got it was somehow bland and almost flavorless.
I really hope this is just a one-off, because I loved my food the first time I tried it, but I'm really disappointed and feel like I wasted my money...
Read moreI came to Just Poke genuinely excited to try their Dole Whip Float and Spicy Maui Chicken bowls—but unfortunately, the experience fell flat.
Despite the store not being busy, service felt rushed and indifferent. I ordered three bowls, and while the rice was nicely cooked, the Hawaiian Mac Salad was dry and completely flavorless. The chicken was overcooked and tough, which made the "spicy" part feel more like a chore than a treat.
What really soured the visit was the service. The staff behind the counter seemed uninterested and disengaged—no smiles, no warmth, just blunt and borderline sassy responses. After tipping 15% on a $60 order, I asked for lids for the floats and was told they didn’t have any. I had to pour them into drink cups myself at the counter, which felt awkward and unnecessary.
To top it off, none of the staff preparing the bowls were wearing gloves. One person even placed a sauce portion cup directly onto my food before sealing it with a lid. It didn’t feel sanitary, and it certainly didn’t feel professional.
Overall, the experience felt poorly managed and lacking in care. I really wanted to enjoy this place, but it missed the mark in...
Read moreThe food was okay, but the staff might need better training. Although there was no one there when we came in, the staff said hi, then walked away while we tried telling them we were ready to order. Once we ordered 2 bowls, they rang us up and walked away, and we had to wave them down to tell them we wanted to order 2 more bowls since we had friends at home who wanted to try the place as well. They punched in the order. They walked off again right after that. I didn't even get to order the drinks I was going to get because the one ringing us up disappeared. It wasn't worth waving them down again, so we just took the food and left. The meat was pretty good, but I wasn't digging the Mac and cheese. Unfortunately, the place was beautiful, but the staff made me not...
