TL;DR Loraine was a fantastic employee. A gem to customer service and very knowledgeable and polite. Explained policy perfectly and helpful as I ordered.
Full: I arrived late at night looking to try the promotional McFlurry, and for the mc crispy chicken strip. I also had a mobile order for the $2 for 10 chicken nuggets guardians deal. When I got there I had actually arrived from the McDonald’s on E Exchange near the university of Akron. That location was incredibly unprofessional. I waited in the drive through for about a half hour before they took my order, and when I explained I wanted to order alongside my mobile code they responded “1 order per car”. It was not busy. I realize late nights are often understaffed, but was still surprised by the intonation and frustration being publicly displayed by their employee. This is why I ended up driving out to W Market St for the rest of my items. Stumbling over my words I explained that I wanted the mobile order and asked if they were out of the mc chicken strips. The app when attached to their location had them marked as unavailable. She informed me that they were not out and it was strange, and asked if I wanted sauces. I was curious if it was an upcharge. Not only was she polite in explaining that it was no charge, but she also informed me that it is two of any sauce and that the one I requested was promotional. It is small moments like these that demonstrate a comprehensive understanding and a genuine interest in serving the customer. My conversation with her was short but impactful. When I went up to pay another impressive moment struck. I have been in the food service industry myself for over 7 years and understand the struggles involved. A good demeanor is already something to be rewarded for late night employees. Not only was I greeted with a good demeanor but with helpful transparency. When she brought my McFlurry she informed me it would be 6 minutes because they were making my chicken strips fresh. I knew this coming in since I work in the industry and understand that fryers need time to cook product correctly. But the fact that she thought to inform the customer why they would be waiting and how long to expect to wait again demonstrated her excellence. There was no frustration, complete transparency, and politeness throughout. I hardly spoke with her but felt the need to leave a good review on her behalf as she greatly lifted the quality of my experience. Refreshing to see...
Read moreIt is sad that the black workers hate black people. Kayla and the other guy with Afro. We watched them allow some whites inside after telling us that the lobby was closed. They made us go twice. The guy with the Afro refused to give us our large coke. Kayla was having an attitude and being rude. No apologies. We literally had to drive through the drive thru twice to get what we wanted. I was very hungry . It’s sad. As a visitor to Akron, it was a sad experience. No apologies. Nothing. The minute they saw we were blacks their faces changed. I was confused and had to ask them if they have met us before. But no. I always eat at McDonald’s in any state I travel to, this has been the worse. For us to get our second large coke, they refused. This is the craziest experience. The guy with the Afro didn’t want us to be served. I still don’t understand why. We could watch the commotion inside between them to serve us while we sat in the drive through. Finally, another guy came to give us our drink. They refused to call their manager. I don’t know if it was our accent that was their problem. Direct discrimination. It’s sad. Our accent or not we should be served as paying customers. McDonald’s has always been my favorite places anywhere I land. But this has been the worse and craziest experience. You could see how they served the white people before us. But as soon as it was us, it was a problem. If you are a black person be careful going to this McDonald’s, especially if you don’t have an American accent. The workers are young but have bad discriminatory attitude. Which is against the rules of...
Read moreTrying to think of something positive to comment about my visit. Walked in on a Friday afternoon at 3:30 pm. Only one other person eating in the dining room. I stood at the counter for approximately 5 minutes before one of the 6-8 employees finally acknowledged me with a nod and said someone would wait on me before he walked away. I heard him tell someone in the back that “someone is going to have to wait on her.” Finally the young lady that was standing there the whole time asked for my order and after I paid, informed me that she “owed” me my change. While I waited I observed another person walk in, order right away, and was given her order with a few minutes. I waited 14 minutes for my burger and fries. Asked for ketchup and my change that I was owed. Got the ketchup but had to wait another 5 minutes to get my change. I would have eaten inside but the tables didn’t look like they had been wiped down in some time. The burger was a sloppy mess and I wasn’t given any napkins. The fries were lukewarm at best. The landscaping was the nicest part of my visit and where I sat to eat. It’s close to the car dealership but I highly doubt I’d visit next...
