I ordered a quart of coleslaw tonight through the Waitr app due to my son having my car "out on the town". When it FINALLY made it here an hour and a half later, I went to put it in the fridge and I could see the slaw through the lid and right then I knew the color was off...so I opened it and I swear I thought it was tuna salad. It was dark and clearly spoiled. I called to the restaurant immediately to let them know what had happened. Remember, I had no car to go get a FRESH quart of slaw...so I had done given up on the idea that I would be enjoying some of that wonderful slaw...or at least for tonight anyway. Yaull, let me tell you... the employee I spoke with at the restuarant was named Taylor and she was so apologetic and clearly embarrassed that the slaw had been sold instead of being thrown out...but when I had told her earlier in our convo as to why I ordered it through Waitr and that I wasn't able to come get another 1 tonight, she, without hesitation, took my name, address and telephone number and asked me if it was OK with me, when the restuarant closed for the night,, she would be happy to personally deliver me a FRESHLY MADE slaw. Yaull she made good on her word too. She texted me when she was leaving the restuarant..like she said she would, and told me she was on her way with my coleslaw. She personally, in her own car, on her OFF time, delivered me a FRESH QUART OF SLAW!!!! Now thats going above and beyond for the customer....CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ITS FINEST!!!!!!!! Mistakes happen, but thanks to Taylor I was finally able to get my coleslaw "fix" for the night!!! Way to go above and beyond for the customer, Taylor!!!!!!!!!! It was very much appreciated!!!!!! David's Catfish House....yaull got a keeper and her name is Taylor!!!!!! Dont lose her! Thanks again Taylor!!!!!

Read moreI kinda hate leaving a bad review so long after my one and only visit to the Spanish Fort location. I've been to the David's Catfish location in Atmore several times, and I've always been pleased with the food and service there.
The David's Catfish location in Spanish Fort however, was quite different, and definitely NOT in a good way.
My wife and I went there shortly after it opened a few years ago. It was late afternoon, and the biggest part of the lunch rush was over. The catfish served to us had been refried, and was completely soaked in grease, and hard and overcooked near the tail end of the filets.
It was sickening for the both of us! My wife didn't leave the building before vomiting in their restroom! I left the building nauseated but didn't vomit.
I love a good catfish dinner, so, I've decided to give you another shot, after quite a long long time. The trouble is, I've heard from one of our friends that their visit was also NOT a pleasant one, and I'm not sure I can talk my wife into coming with me.
It will have to be better this time, or I'll send it back.
My wife and I came back to this restaurant on Saturday 9/23/23. I had called the owner several days in advance because I wanted to meet him. I was disappointed that he didn't think it important enough to meet me at the time we discussed on the phone. I guess he didn't want to hear about my previous visit, or thought that I was wanting a free meal. I had been planning to give a positive review based on the visit, and remove the negative one above.
The meal this time was great! The food was hot and delicious. Our waitress was friendly.
Because Mr. Ross didn't think I was important enough to take a little time to come meet me, my previous review will stand.
Heads up Mr....
Read moreUpdate: Sorry to report we walked into this location the other day and no one acknowledged we were there for more than five mintes so we left. Two people were behind the counter and we know the waitresses had to look up and see us standing there. Sad indeed.
Been there several times and just now getting around to doing a review. Food has been very good most every visit. My wife does not like the tea at times and we have to wonder if restaurants these days are having problem keeping or getting the same brand of tea on a regular basis. Maybe the owners and or managers do not taste their own tea,etc but we advise them to find a good brand and keep it. Their cole slaw is sometimes a little too soupy. Prices are very competitive and they give a Senior Discount which is super good as most restaurants in this area do not but most do give military discount. Waitresses are very helpful and do a good job in our opinion. Unfortunately, we did not see any State of Alabama Flag flying nor Confederate Battle Flag representing the people of Alabama and the State in which they do business. Perhaps one day businesses will not be intimidated to the point they feel scared to show their loyalty and support for those who keep them in business. Please remember my family is Confederate American and or Southern to the bone and we eat breakfast in the morning and dinner at noon and supper at night. I am convinced that atheists have never liked the "supper" name for the evening meal used in Dixie or the Bible Belt due to its connotations related to the "Last Supper" involving Jesus and the...
