I treated my wife and my sister, who is visiting from Chicago, to lunch at the Madison, Alabama location. My wife and I have frequented this location several times, and it was not the first time that we brought guests. We brought my sister there to impress her with our newly found gem of an eatery. She was truly impressed; however, it was a bad impression. The restaurant was not very busy when we arrived. We were promptly seated and Maryann was our server. Before I go any further, in all fairness, our server was not writing down anything that we ordered. I ordered the Fried Pickles for an appetizer (it is one of our favorites) and they were excellent as usual. We then placed our orders, and when the food began to arrive, the problems started.
My sister ordered the “Cajun Sausage Pasta,” which came with a side salad. She asked that the pasta portion be substituted with linguine, and she asked that the side salad be served with honey mustard dressing. Our server said that it would not be a problem. She also requested a cup of soup. My wife ordered the "Zesty Turkey Sandwich" with French fries. She also ordered an eight-inch “Cajun Pepperoni Pizza,” and told the server that she would want it "ordered to go.” Maryann said that she would wait and drop the pizza order when we were close to finishing our meals. I ordered the "Kale Salad.”
We talked amongst our selves a few moments and salad arrived with the pickles. My sister started in on the salad and had not noticed that ranch dressing was on the side instead of the honey mustard dressing that she had requested. Not wanting to rock the boat, she said nothing about the salad dressing. When to soup arrived it was cold and we sent it back. It took at least ten minutes to receive another cup. When we asked her about the fresh cup of soup, she said it was good. The main entrees arrived maybe fifteen to twenty minutes later. By then we were wondering why was taking so long for our food to come out seeing that the restaurant was not crowded.
To make a long story as short as possible, my sister’s entree arrived with the wrong pasta, my wife’s sandwich was hot and her French fries were cold. My kale salad was good. Our server was notified, and my sister’s entrée was sent back to be replaced with what was originally requested. Maryann left the cold fries, saying that she would get my wife a fresh batch. My wife and I waited for my sister’s entree to come out before continuing to eat our meals. It took at least another fifteen minutes for my sister’s order to come, and by then our experience had soured.
I really wanted my sister to have a wonderful experience at Jonathan’s and I had told her that she was going to really like it. That was not the case. I was truly disappointed with the food and the service that day. The overall experience at Jonathan’s, to put it nicely, was totally awful. We even had to stop another server to have a refill of water, because after our meals were served we did not see very much of Maryann. In fact, when we did see her, we had to remind her about the “to go pizza.” And to add insult to injury, the pizza that my wife ordered held us up for at least thirty more minutes after it was supposedly ordered, and par for course, it arrived burnt. I paid the check, we took our burnt pizza and left. In the future, when I have guests that I want to take out for a meal, I will not consider Jonathan’s as a top choice. As a kindness, I will not post this review on Google. And I hope that our experience at this location improves for the benefit of your future customers. I am attaching a photocopy of our...
Read moreFirst I was greeted by the rudest person named Taylor who wasn’t the host! He was a very rude and unprofessional server! He said I couldn’t sit at a booth with 4 guest on a Saturday. I have been in the restaurant business for 40 years! I also have a Bachelor Degree in food service management! I have had many positions in te food service industry! I have waited on tables at restaurants that the check average was $200.00 per person and worked at restaurants where it’s $20 per person check average! I have worked as a Reataurant manager Sous Chef , Excutive Chef , busboy , host etc. It was 4:30 pm on a Saturday the restaurant capacity was maybe at 25% capacity! So I understand that the booths are reserved for parties of 4 or more! I understand company policies, but at 4:30 pm on a Saturday with your capacity at 25% there should be exceptions to the rule! Let’s talk about my food! My mom and I have ordered from your restaurant 2 times before and always order the same thing! 2 Mr prime ribs with loaded potatoes to go! It has always been perfectly cooked Mr. Tonight we asked for the same cook and items and the we’re both cooked Medium to medium well! My mother ate hers but wasn’t happy! I sent mine back and still it was returned to me medium to medium well! When we ordered to go it was a little later in the day and are steaks were cooked perfect but our potatoes were always brown and old! I thought since we came at 4:30pm we would get hot and perfectly cooked and hot! They were both cold !! Why? The sever was Marley and she was amazing ! She was a great server in all aspects! I have no complaints!! The manger who asked the right questions and explained the policy’s . But I would never ask the customer can I do something for you because of your bad experience. I would offer to pay for their dessert or their meal! In my experience it always better to explain to the quest what you’re going to do for them ! Not what can I do for you! That leads for the guest to ask for much more then what you want to do for them. I would have been fine for her to say I am so sorry about your experience, let me take care of your desserts. But she who I don’t remember her name. I didn’t want anything for free I just wanted her to know about my experience I had on her shift ! Our meal was 2 Mr prime ribs loaded with a Mr bison burger ! 2 wood ford reserve old fashion, Blue-moon nonalcoholic beer and three waters with lemon. Regular cheesecake to go and a pecan caramel cheesecake to...
Read moreWe chose Jonathan's today for our anniversary over Conners. BIG MISTAKE! First, my husband went to the bathroom. When he came out, he looked disgusted. He said there was urine on the floor in front of the urinal. Bathroom overall smelled. Not sure why the bathroom wasn't cleaned prior to opening. And, no it didn't just happen. We were the first guests in the door. Ali was our server. Very attentive. We ordered fried pickles and spring rolls for our appetizer. Spring Rolls were delicious. Many of the fried pickles were grease logged and soggy. I chose the margarita pizza. My husband chose the Larry Bird sandwich. The pesto on my pizza was not evenly drizzled. There was one big glob on one side so whoever got that piece, it was full of pesto. The crust was very thick and did not taste authentic. We had our sandwich cut in half because we wanted to share everything. The chicken breast in the sandwich was the thinnest chicken breast I have ever seen. The chicken was very bland. The Swiss cheese was not even melted. And the thousand Island dressing was barely on there to even add flavor. We did send it back because the chicken was very bland. It was a very small piece. Ali was very helpful and wanted to ensure that we were happy. He informed a manager. A manager never came to the table or brought the new plate of food to us to apologize. But this sandwich literally look the same as the first one that was taken back. The onion rings left nothing to the imagination. Sonic has better onion rings than what we saw today. We have been waiting to come here and eat because of all the hype of it being new last year and we heard good things about this place. But after today, we will not be back. The layout of the lobby is very congested. We were literally set right inside the door on the left. We could hear everything the ladies beside us were talking about and the man that was diagonal kept blowing his nose and that's all we could hear while we ate. The bar looks very dark and very dull and very boring. It did not look like anyone was having a good time. Everything tasted overly processed and artificial. The only thing that tasted remotely homemade was the sauce that came out with the spring rolls. Well, we came, we saw, & we didn't conquer, but we will...
