Alachua Sports Pub — Restaurant in Alachua

Choose this place to meet some friends at that were going to be in the area. We pulled into the parking lot to wait for them. We were approached by a very drunk older woman who asked if we were lost because we were just sitting there. We told her we were not and we were waiting on people. She then told us that she thought we were her friend who was coming from "the other bar" and that she was the owner of this place. After that she told us that we could wait, "but you can't wait here"... So even though her parking lot was half empty and we were bringing people there to drink, she told us we needed to leave. Maybe she was just in a mood because she was so drunk, but I can certainly say I understand why her friend was at the "other bar". So I had to call my friends and find a new place to go... Needless to say, I won't be recommending this...

Bar, pool hall with local flavor, come in jeans and a t-shirt, don't expect anything fancy but the service was good, as was the food. The fries were fresh and crisp, and the beer was ice cold, those two things alone are worth my time and they're never guaranteed as simple as they are and other places. I had the Cajun burger and it quite frankly was amazing. I don't think anything on their small menu is more than eight or nine dollars so it's a great place to stop for lunch or for a snack after work to get beered up and shoot pool :-) Update! Well, when you Google "bars near me" in Alachua, as a visiting traveler, this was the only one that came up. squints suspiciously in southern ... Alrighty then. After raising my eyebrow at the older gentleman by the door that told me his 'bike needed warshin', I headed on in to a very comfortable atmosphere. They have pool tables, darts, etc if that's what you wanna do. Food was good, bartender was FABULOUS - and although I was disappointed that there was no liquor served (just beer & wine ya'll) they did have some Seagrams and another drink of that variety so I ended up a happy girl with that. So - super nice people, comfy down home feel, and I enjoyed my time at the only (seriously?)...
