Flo's Pancake House — Restaurant in Alaska

Classic breakfast diner experience! We walked in and obeyed the wait to be seated sign, but the waitress told us to pick a spot. Before we even sat, she had our drink preferences (coffee/water) and moments later we had menus. . Of course, I got the corned beef hash (from a can, for sure), which was perfectly seared. It came in a surprising half circle, seared on both sides. I got the breakfast potatoes, which were equally good. The scrambled eggs could have been fluffier, but these were a style others love. The rye bread toast was THICK and heavily buttered: excellent. . The waitress operated solo. She was hard working, serving everyone by herself. I totally appreciated her effort, checking in frequently with everyone. Clearly, she knows her job. . I mean, reading my review you'd think I adored the place. Instead, believe that I wish more breakfast places were like this. Workaday, great...

Was very let down with my visit on a slow Friday morning. We asked for a booster seat and it never came. Had to go to the bar and ask another server for one. Our server then took our order and didn't realize that we wanted the JUNIOR pancake stack for our 3 year old even though she later admitted that she should have clarified it. She also didn't adjust the bill when we told her about it before we ate (and also didn't seem interested in discussing it or hearing about). My eggs Benedict was cold, the server was very unfriendly, the walls at our booth were filthy and everything was sticky and pretty gross. The place hasn't been updated in a very long time. Overall, a bad experience. This is the first time I didn't leave a tip in all my years of eating in restaurants and I feel terrible about it even though it was deserved. Won't be back. 2 big...

Someone had mentioned in a review that this is where the locals eat so we thought we'd give it a go. We ordered the chicken fried steak with pancakes, eggs and hash browns. WOW! Awesome coating on the steak cooked to perfection, crunch with that gravy they made was a welcome surprise. Had chicken fried steak in a lot of places and this is way up there & may be the best I've had tbh. Server took care of us well. Yes, the interior is a little dated but that is fine as the food we had was super filling and comfort food that left is more than satisfied. Well done to all that work at this place...
