Korean Garden — Restaurant in Alaska

They had the best Korean food in town. I used to go there several times over the years, but when COVID hits, I had only been there twice and felt very uncomfortable in my welcoming. The old lady who always come to the register asked me if I was Chinese. I told her my nationality. She would complaint to me about Chinese people. In my belief, it does not applies to everyone just because the virus started from one small marketplace in China. The second time I did my usual takeout, she asked me again with a very untrustworthy stared as I told her my nationality again. I asked for a ice tea to-go. She came back with my food and refund me for the ice tea because she said they were out. I asked for a cup of water is fine. She told me they do not have water neither. It's hard to find a good Korean restaurant around here but this place came highly recommended. The place is well-lite, clean and the lady that served us was very friendly and got all our orders correctly. The menu isn't big but have everything that you would want to get your Korean food fix. The lady greeted us wiped down the table and the seats before sitting us. The place is very clean and well kept.

We tried the pan fried gyozas, seafood pancake, and chicken bulgogi. The food came less than 10 mins. The gyozas were crispy on the outside, juicy and piping hot on the inside. The seafood pancake was filled with tender big pieces of calamari flavored by lots of spring onions. Perfect pairing with the provided vinegary dipping sauce. The chicken bulgogi was also a hit. Tender pieces of dark meat, sweet but a hint of heat.

Have you ever had Budae Jjigae before? I’ve only ever seen it in my K-Dramas that I watch and was so excited when I saw it on the menu! If you order it, let me know how you like it!

Korean Garden is a whole vibe and the experience we had there is an experience I wish we could experience for the first time all over again!
