Mekong Pho — Restaurant in Alaska

Currently sitting at the restaurant giving this review. The food was amazing. I’m Vietnamese myself and have been to Vietnam and lived in the east coast for 20+ years, but I wouldn’t say I’m an expert on authentic pho because I only eat chicken pho cooked in chicken broth as I had a bad experience with beef as a kid.

I had called ahead to make sure their broth was something I’d eat. The guy who picked up answered all my questions and when he didn’t know the answer, he’d ask instead of rushing with an answer like at other establishments. I’ve experienced places that tell me “I’m not sure. Wait yes it’s chicken” and I later find out it’s beef or pork…

Anyway, back to this place, they ran out of chicken broth tonight but offered me vegetarian broth over the phone. The vegetarian broth with chicken was so good. It didn’t taste exactly like pho but more of a really good Asian chicken noodle soup. My fiancé also really enjoyed his drunken noodle. It was very saucy just how we like it. The server (and the guy who had picked up the phone earlier) is such an amazing young man. He was very kind and very attentive all while attending the front by himself. 10/10 recommend. Despite of what others might say due to their experience at Mekong Pho in Anchorage AK. I've been going to this restaurant since it has opened. The staff knows my usual order which ranges between $40-$75 depending if I added any additional meats or noodles to my order. House fried rice with charziu and pork belly is one of my all time favorite dishes here alongside with their #16 BEEF COMBO PHO with extra noodles/meat. Out of all vietnamese/Asian restaurants, MEKONG PHO will always be #1. The atmosphere is what you expect from these American restaurants. My husband and I had dinner at Mekong Pho in Mountain View, Anchorage, Alaska. If you haven't been there, you gotta go! The food blew me away. So delicious, excellent customer service, the food came out so fast. Talented chef, great workers! The ambiance is relaxing and their decor took me by surprise. Kinda expected it to be like most stores and restaurants in the View- older and a bit outdated but it is not at all like that. It looks new or newly renovated, modernized and tastefully done.
