Xalos Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Alaska

I NEVER take the time to write reviews—I'm not that kind of person. But this time I decided to do it to see if things can be improved. It used to be my favorite place in the past. I remember they were more attentive about two years ago. There were some young guys working there who were very polite—one of them, I think, was the manager because besides cooking, he also talked to the customers. I remember he was from Mexico (I spoke with him once). I haven’t seen him lately. In a way, it's been a long time since I last came.

This time I went, and the meat was hot in some parts and cold in others. I had a super burrito. I know some ingredients come from the cold bar, but the MEAT was completely cold. Also — and forgive me if I’m exaggerating — after I realized the meat in my burrito was cold, I went to the soda fountain and the soda I wanted wasn’t even available! Honestly, I didn’t even say anything because it was clear they were really busy, and I’m not the kind of person to make a fuss. I used to come here a lot back then, and when the other manager was around, I never had a bad meal—and I came very frequently. I went several times this year, around mid-June, July, and August, and honestly, I was very disappointed. They used to be better, but instead of improving, I feel like they've gotten worse. I remember last year they were the best—back in 2023—the food and especially the customer service were outstanding. I recall having great conversations with the manager at that time, I remember his name was kind of italian or somethig

This time, however, when I asked for help with a dish that really tasted bad, the manager (if you can call them that) didn’t speak English! I mean, not even a little bit. I couldn’t understand them at all. They should be more careful about who they hire as a manager.

Also, one of the times I visited, they were cleaning the wall near the food with chemicals—that’s awful! I’m sorry, but this time I can only give them 1 star because theres no 0 stars. I hope they improve and go back to...

I didn't even know it was possible to mess up a burrito this much. The outside foil was covered in sour cream and some grease. But the burrito itself is what made me want to never go back again. Literally they folded the tortilla twice, so a third of my burrito was just tortilla, and they just folded it in half. They didn't even try to close it, so the moment I attempt to hold it, the very few ingredients it has inside just spills out. This is a taco at this point, with no actual ingredients. The burrito was also super messy, and it was just covered in other random ingredients, so the ingredients it should have had inside was all on the outside, but the stuff outside seems to be from another item, cause there was random ingredients I didn't even order in my burrito.
