Beautiful! Muah 💋🤌🏻 My boyfriend and I grew up in Europe. It’s amazing to see a touch of Europe in Alaska! The food is incredible and very Greek style. EVERYTHING is made fresh with nice textures to enjoy, even the calamari is never frozen and in my opinion, the best in town. We got the special of the Lamb chops for two with the Greek salad. If you see that on the menu for the day, get it! Everything is perfectly seasoned to bring out the natural flavors of the food, not American style where they cover up the natural flavors of the food with too much seasoning. So if you’re not used to that, just know that this is authentic Greek style of enjoying the food for what is it in simplicity with a dash of love. I can tell if a restaurant has authentic European values because the food shouldn’t hurt your stomach also. We left with full bellies and zero bloat. We are not fat and we literally ate everything with zero bloat or lathargia, Including the desert! (Btw, just do it, get the desert) Omg, it was perfectly made with love! The service was incredible, very attentive, and easy to talk to. All the staff is happy and joyful, including the cooks. If I could give 6 stars, I would. We’ll be back. It’s our new favorite...
Read moreWow! My daughter and I went to Meraki Afrah for the first time and it was one of the best meals we've had in DECADES. No joke! I don't typically write reviews but this place EARNED it so posting here and in Yelp. Owner (Fredo/Freda?) was phenomenal. He did all the front room tasks himself, from taking orders, bringing food out, checking in, payment processing, even bussing the tables afterwards. Outgoing chap, super busy...but the flavorings were out of this world delicious. I opted for the spicy pork platter (I hesitated about the pork b/c usually it is loaded with fat but theirs had none at all) and my daughter got the wrap. The amount of food provided floored us. Everyone else took out what they couldn't finish. Do yourself a favor and come early or close the place down and chat with the owner. Fascinating fellow. Appreciates veterans. I would seriously volunteer in their kitchen just to learn how they deliver such exquisite flavors. Guarantee we will return...got a chuckle out of their spelling of Yurro, which he did on purpose b/c so many manage to...
Read moreThis is a small, independent establishment with a relatively small menu. I'll admit we indulged a bit.
We started with the zucchini bites. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but they exceeded my expectations. The outside was crispy while the inside was creamy with a nice crunch. How do you get that texture? They came with tzatziki sauce for dipping. That's some amazing sauce.
We ordered one kebab and one pork yeero... Both were very good. The meats were fresh and done in the traditional style.
The highlight of the meal was the baklava. I'm half Greek. Baklava is one of my favorite desserts. This was a perfect baklava! When it was served the top layers we all flaky and beautiful. It was actually easy to cut (we decided to share one). The flavor explosion was amazing. You've got to try this baklava. Pretty sure this was the best I've...
