I was excited to eat some sushi with a friend I haven't seen in a long time. First the waitress tried to take away my half eaten salad and didn't apologize when I asked for it back nicely. Not a big deal, easy mistake. Then I ordered mackeral nigiri and was given maguro. Whatever, mistakes happen. The final straw was when I wanted to order a $23 bottle of sake. There are 4 bottles of sake on the menu all for around $20 and they were out of 2 of them. I pointed to a picture of one of the smaller bottles of sake. The waitress said "that one is 100". I said "100 milliliters? okay Ill do that one". She gave us a different bottle than the one in the picture and said it was a new design even though the kanji was completely different. Got the bill and I was charged $100 when the most expensive sake on the menu is in the $20 range. I told the waitress that I think she brought us the wrong sake and she immediately started arguing about it. I tried to explain my perspective and how it was a misunderstanding but she just kept arguing. Spoke to the manager and said I was upset but would still pay for the sake because I drank it. I explained the misunderstanding and asked if there was anything she could do about it. She refused to even try to make things right and barely cared about the situation. Comping an appetizer or just giving me a free miso soup togo would have been something. They did nothing. I tipped $5 on a $224 ticket and don't feel bad. Go to any other sushi restaurant in Anchorage. This place has mid food and doesn't care about...
Read moreNever have I ever been the victim of such ouvert prejudice and bigotry! I have been here before and have received terrible service. Yesterday, I decided to try again and hope for a better experience - I was wrong and have decided not to return. Your main waitress, Jessica is a racist and you all need to either remove her and have a honest conversation with her. My family and I arrived and waited at the door with no sort of acknowledgement, when we were finally acknowledged, she told us to sit. It took awhile to get water or any other service. When ordering our food she acted as if we were the biggest inconvenience and often spoke over us. After ordering our food, it took forever for our food to get to us and same with our drinks. Literally everyone else was getting their food and drinks but us. We also saw her going to various tables asking if everyone was alright and enjoying their food, she didn't ask us once. When we needed a refill, she avoided us. We also asked for to-go plates and she refused to get them- we, THE CUSTOMER, had to get it ourselves. This is the second time I've had this experience with this particular waitress. Her behavior is unacceptable and I will be sharing my experience with others and recommending they don't come here....
Read moreDO NOT GO. My family and I went and were treated like second-class citizens by a waitress named Jessica who acted as if she hated us and much as she hates her job. I understand that life is stressful for most right now but the way we were treated, overlooked and simply ignored cannot be justified. This is my third time coming here and each time my experience has been the same. She refused to acknowledge our request, refused to ask if we needed anything, refused to bring our food to us when it was clearly ready, and refused to attend to us after we sat down. Sushi Garden, I've read your reviews and a lot of people seem to agree that your waitress is an issue that is costing your business money. Will you continue to keep a waitress and risk the well-being of your restaurant or will you do what's right and find a replacement who will do right by customers?
My family and I will not be back and we encourage others to do the same. If you do decide to come back, that's ok- just avoid the older waitress with jet black hair...
