We decided to go back to Southside Grill and have breakfast. We’ve been before. It has been some time since we’ve been back. I knew that I’d love the breakfast because it was great before… but then I didn’t. We did hit the window of luck when it came to seating. We got there and were sat within minutes. It took about five minutes before menus and water came. We knew they were busy, so we understood. I ordered the country omelet (menu states it comes with salsa), with hash browns. My daughter ordered the french toast with sausage patties. She wanted hash browns, but because my dish came with it I said I’d give her part of mine. I asked if toast came with mine and was told yes, that or pancakes. I ordered sourdough. We played with a paper and pen while we waited. My daughter just got a fun pen for her birthday. As we were waiting, there were two tables that got food before us, who were sat well after us. I was confused, so I asked a server if they may have pre-ordered their food prior to coming; also stating they were sat after us. She said that sometimes the cooks will cook what’s faster. One table had eggs benedicts and the other had steak. Our food was dropped off about 5-7 minutes after the other tables. Okay, cool. Now, we didn’t get silverware. We asked for some and they were handed out a few minutes later. Just weird to me to deliver food without double checking for some eating utensils. I was a bit flustered and didn’t realize these were missing from the table, otherwise I would’ve asked when the food was dropped off. My omelet looked pretty normal. The salsa wasn’t on the plate. My hash browns weren’t cooked on one side. I just ate the top. I did share and my daughter did the same. My toast never did come. I really just ate because I was hungry. My daughter enjoyed her french toast but felt the sausage patties had a weird texture. These were premade patties. I asked the server if the toast was an additional charge and if it was I’d like the charge removed as I never did get the toast. She said no there isn’t a charge. Honestly, she never did come back after bringing the salsa that was missing so I couldn’t tell her about the toast until the end when she picked up our plates. I suppose she did try… she took off .50¢ for the missing toast from the bill. We probably won’t come back. It’s quite a drive to that side of town anyway. We left pretty bummed about...

Read moreOne of the best dining experiences I've experienced in Anchorage in a long time. I've always looked for a good weekend dining spot and I think this might be it! Plenty of parking. Ground-level easy access will leave in if you have a wheelchair. Plenty of seating. Staff were friendly welcoming and got to us in a seconds of walking in the front door and directed towards the seating area. I got that kind of warm homemade dining experience where you're invited in and choose your seat but I have the feeling during peak hours they tend to select seating and I feel there's possibly the chance of a line during peak hours so be prepared for a wait. Food was spectacular, I ordered a rare steak the steak came rare ( some people might find this an odd point but it is rarely that I order a steak rare and actually get a properly cooked steak so kudos to these guys) Prices are reasonable, they're not the cheapest in town but they're more than competitive with any fast food eaten go like IHOP not to mention the qualities 10 times better. So if you're on this side of town or you feel like taking a drive from the other side of town to this side just for a good meal try this spot. On a side note I think I ran into the owner on the way out she thanked us for coming and eating at our establishment and then gave my little kid a big hug and a big cinnamon roll it's rare to find such inviting and loving staff I love these...
