Peking Wok — Restaurant in Alaska

Ordered pick up through my husbands doordash. Order said it was ready, but when we got there it was in fact not ready. Waited for a good 20-35 mins and when it came time to grab the food she wanted me to show her my ID? Didn’t have my ID on me as I was only running in to pick up the order. I gave her my husbands name but she wouldn’t let me pick it up…. had to have my husband come out just pick up the food which was so unnecessary because she didn’t even ask him for his ID. Personally a waste of time.

Came home to eat the food and was NOT impressed at all! The mongolian beef only came with a few pieces and it looks like a lot but it was really just the crispy rice noodles on the bottom they used as a filler. Sweet & Sour chicken wasn’t bad but felt like a majority of it was just the deep fried batter with little to no chicken.

When I first came here 4 years ago I thought they were really good, but seems as if it’s gone downhill since then. The portions are not how I remembered them to be and the sweet & sour sauce for the egg roll was jello like and not a sauce at all. Egg roll was doughy as if it wasn’t cooked all the way through as well.

What the heck happened to this place? A year ago this was our go to place. Food was always good, was hot when it came to the house, and the delivery was fast.

Ever since they shut down for a few months last year, once they re-opened, the delivery has been AWFUL!

I called for delivery and the girl on the phone said one hour. Fine. It is summer, cruise season, AK is busy, I get it. After an hour and a half I called to inquire about our order. Same girl told me driver is leaving in five minutes. Fine.

And HOUR AND A HALF LATER and 80 damn dollars later, still no food. Some of my family members have medical issues and they need to eat on a schedule. Today- dinner was out of our control so we thought we would order from our usually reliable place.

Reliable no more. This review makes me sad but also frustrated that I am 80$ out and no food. I now need to cancel the order on my credit card- if I even can- and need to scrape something together at 8:30 at night. Ugh!

I am not sure what is happening, but I will no longer be ordering from here for delivery.

We had one of their dinner for one combination with the Mongolian chicken and sweet and sour pork. And for the other dish we had the mushroom vegetables. The latter came with soup and rice. We enjoyed both dishes. I think the combination dinner set for 1 is such a great idea. You get a variety of things to sample to keep the meal interesting. Friendly obliging staff managing the front all by herself. The ambience and decor made me think I could have been in any Chinese restaurant and place in the world. The decorative lantern with a lady, copper tooled tableau of galloping horses, dragons on pillars, red table cloth, laminated table setting under a cover of glass. Well worn banquet seats with authentic dips added to the timelessness of this place. And there's two large aquariums with gold fish in them. Plenty of parking outside. Doors capable of accommodating wheelchairs. High chairs...
